$4 recently revealed the work conditions of more than 2,000 employees on a company recruitment website, detailing their average salary, work hours, and benefits. The video game giant's impressive games and innovative hardware make it an industry trend setter, and if the recruitment page is any indication, the company is ahead of the curve in its treatment of employees.

According to the $4 spotted by Daniel Ahmad of Niko Partners, Nintendo employs 2,271 workers in Japan as of September 2018, with an average salary of about $80,600. In addition to their salary, Nintendo offers employees commuter benefits, twice yearly bonuses, and an annual pay raise.

Nintendo plans to recruit 81 new college graduates in 2019, a significant increase from the 59 hired in 2018. The average employee age is 38.6, and the average tenure with the company is 13.5 years.

 

The average work day at Nintendo of Japan is 7 hours and 45 minutes, with an hour break for each shift. Employees in the main office get to work around 8:45, while developers start their day closer to 9:30. Nintendo's headquarters are based in Kyoto, but there's also a company office in Tokyo.

Originally founded in 1889, Nintendo began as a playing card company. Nintendo explored several different businesses in the 1950s and 1960s, but eventually found its niche in the electronic toy market. The company started with home video game hardware like the Color TV-Game and Game & Watch handhelds prior to the global success of the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985.
