  • It is pretty clear now that BJP is all set to win in four out of five states in the Vidhan Sabha elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set for a win in four out of five states — Uttar Pradesh (UP), Uttarakhand, Manipur, and Goa – which went to polls this year.

The BJP seems to be winning UP, the biggest state in India by population, with a thumping margin for a second consecutive term for incumbent Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

However, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) swept Punjab this year defeating the ruling party, the Indian National Congress.

Uttar Pradesh
The BJP has won 5 seats and is leading in another 245 seats. Current Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath is leading in his Gorakhpur seat with a margin of 40,144 votes, as per media reports.

Uttarakhand
Again here, the ruling party BJP seems to be winning in a comfortable way by leading in 48 seats, while Congress is ahead in 18 seats. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and former CM Harish Rawat, both have lost the Vidhan Sabha elections.

Punjab
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)'s Bhagwant Mann, who on Thursday won the Dhuri seat with a margin of 58,206 votes, is set to become Punjab's next chief minister.

Mann said he will take oath as the Chief Minister in Bhagat Singh's ancestral village Khatkar Kalan and not in Raj Bhawan.

Manipur
BJP is way ahead of Congress by winning 14 seats and leading by 12 seats in the Vidhan Sabha elections. Manipur CM N Biren Singh defeated his nearest Congress rival P Saratchandra Singh in Heingang.
