• The Bharatiya Janata Party lost the race for West Bengal, as Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress sealed its fate with a victory.
• BJP had upped its game in the state and had seen 34 leaders of TMC leaving the party to join BJP – including Banerjee’s former trusted aide Suvendu Adhikari.
• However, BJP has definitely seen a big uptick in its vote share in the state.

The Bharatiya Janata Party lost the race for West Bengal, as Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress sealed its fate with a victory. BJP’s stalwarts including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah had campaigned heavily for the state, which had also come under massive criticism as it attracted huge crowds even during the COVID-19 pandemic.

BJP had upped its game in the state and had seen 34 leaders of TMC leaving the party to join BJP – including Banerjee’s former trusted aide Suvendu Adhikari. Adhikari fought against Banerjee from Nandigram, and won the seat.

However, BJP has definitely seen a big uptick in its vote share in the state.
