Congress reportedly planned an alliance with Lalu Prasad-led Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Yadav’s party will contest on four seats in Delhi in alliance with the Congress.

With the Kejriwal government approaching its end on February 22, the Election Commission of India announced the schedule for Delhi elections. The assembly polls will commence on February 8, 2020.
The three main parties contesting elections constitute the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC).
Both BJP and AAP has announced their candidates. While AAP has released names of all the 70 candidates, BJP is yet to announce candidates for 13 seats including Burari, Nangloi Jat, Rajouri Garden , Hari Nagar, Delhi Cantt, New Delhi, Kasturba Gandhi, Mehrauli, Sangam Vihar, Kalkaji, Krishna Nagar, Shahdara, Seema Puri.
While AAP has replaced 15 sitting MLAs and introduced 24 new faces overall, BJP has axed 26 candidates from the 2015 list out of the 57 names it has released so far.
This time, BJP fielded Kapil Mishra — ex-AAP MLA who was ousted from the party earlier, from Model Town. Further, the saffron party had fielded Ramvir Singh Bidhuri from Badarpur and Ravi Negi has been fielded against Deputy CM Manish Sisodia from Patparganj assembly seat. BJP might go to the polls without any CM candidate. The party earlier unanimously said it will decide the CM candidate after poll results are out.

Earlier in January, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also released the list of all the 70 candidates fighting in the upcoming elections. The Arvind Kejriwal led party fielded Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia from Patparganj while Atishi will contest the assembly elections from Kalkaji seat. Raghav Chadha has also been given the ticket from Rajinder Nagar.

In 2015 assembly elections, Arvind Kejriwal was elected as the Chief Minister of the state. He is now eyeing a re-election in the upcoming assembly polls. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won the 2015 election — winning 67 of the 70 assembly seats while the three seats went to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
