Even though he was at the White House for only 11 days, former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci was able to check one "major item" off his West Wing bucket list.
In her forthcoming book, "Speaking for Myself: Faith, Freedom, and the Fight of Our Lives Inside the Trump White House," Sarah Sanders described a previously unreported Scaramucci anecdote, recalling a distinct comment she said he made to her on the way to Trump's speech at the 2017 Boy Scout Jamboree in West Virginia.
"I'm proud to report I crossed a major item off my bucket list today," Scaramucci, one of the shortest-tenured senior White House officials in American history, told Sanders on the ride over, according to the author and former White House press secretary.
"I assumed he would say something like, 'riding on Air Force One,' but instead Mooch said he'd just "taken a huge s--- in the West Wing,'" Sanders wrote.
"The rest of us in the van sat there speechless as Mooch proudly told us he'd immediately called his son afterwards," she added.
Scaramucci did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment, but he did tweet a response to the book passage.
"It was a start of a movement," he tweeted.
Scaramucci has the dubious distinction of being the Trump White House senior official with the shortest tenure on record. He was White House director of communications from July 21 to 31 in 2017.
According to the White House, Scaramucci was given the ax after 11 days in the hours following the swearing-in of John Kelly as chief of staff to give Kelly "a clean slate."
But Scaramucci's ouster came after an interview with Ryan Lizza of The New Yorker.
In it, Scaramucci made derogatory comments about senior Trump officials, including Reince Priebus and Steve Bannon.
"Reince is a f---ing paranoid schizophrenic, a paranoiac," he said. He also had critical words for Steve Bannon, a Trump strategist at the time: "I'm not Steve Bannon, I'm not trying to suck my own c---."
Scaramucci tweeted that going after Bannon outranked his first West Wing dump as his greatest White House accomplishment.
