A New York wedding planner says her clients are spending $200,000 on extravagant wedding weekends, tapping into lockdown savings
  • Couples are splashing out on 2022 weddings after saving money during the pandemic.
  • One wedding planner told the NYT that some clients were spending $200,000 for a wedding weekend.
  • Previously, her clients spent about $100,000 on average, she said.

Couples that delayed weddings during the pandemic are going all out on celebrations in 2022, industry insiders told $4.

New York state-based wedding planner Magdalena Mieczkowska told The Times that her clients were now spending as much as $200,000 on wedding weekends for 2022.

Previously, her clients spent about $100,000 on average, she said.

Mieczkowska specializes in "unique weddings" across the Hudson Valley, the Berkshires, and New England.

She gave two reasons for the jump in spending. Firstly, clients that have postponed weddings during 2020 and 2021 have $4 during the pandemic and now have more to spend. Secondly, vendors - caterers or photographers, for example - are charging more for their services to recoup losses from 2020.

Demand is also soaring. $4 estimates that there will be nearly 2.5 million weddings in the US in 2022, which would be the $4.

"It's absolutely booming." Meg Van Dyke, a Pittsburgh-based wedding planner, said of demand in conversation with The Times.

Some $4.
