Burger King launches investigation after Michigan restaurant puts up anti-vaxx sign

A Burger King restaurant in Jackson, Michigan, is being investigated by the corporation after hanging up an anti-vaccination sign, according to Michigan Live.

The sign displayed on the front of the building on Thursday read: "Honk if you are against forced mask & forced jab," prompting some drivers passing by to honk.

The manager of the franchise did not want to comment on the message, and only half of the employees working at the franchise were wearing face coverings inside, Michigan Live reported.

"We've been in communication with the franchisee who is further investigating this incident," a Burger King spokesperson told Michigan Live. "Protecting the health and safety of team members and guests has been our top priority since the beginning of the pandemic."

Insider also sent a request for comment but has not heard back in time for publication.

The sign has since been removed and was replaced by another that read: "Open interviews Monday 3 pm," the Daily Beast reported.

Jackson County has one of the highest COVID-19 transmission rates in the state, according to CDC data.

Almost half of Michigan's population has been vaccinated, according to a tracker by Johns Hopkins University.

Burger King requires all team members to wear masks in the restaurant, regardless of vaccination status.
