When Vaishali resident Deepti Sarna made her way back home unharmed after being missing for 36 hours, the police had suspected a foul play. However, soon after her abductors were arrested and interrogated, it came to light that the prime accused was infatuated by Deepti and had stalked her more than 150 times in the past year. The police also said that the criminal mind was inspired by the 1993 movie Darr, in which Rahul, a character played by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan stalks her crush Kiran, played by Juhi Chawla, while trying to woo her.

The actor who was in Delhi for the launch of the first song from his upcoming movie Fan was asked for his views on the whole incident. To this, Khan said that no filmmaker makes a movie with the intention of inspiring people negatively, and it was 'upsetting' that some fans get influenced to do wrong things by watching films.

Talking of the case, five men have been arrested so far for being involved in the kidnapping of Sarna, who worked with a Gurgaon-based e-commerce giant. The police have termed the main accused as a psychopath, who has been charged with several crimes in the past.
