- India has banned another 43 chinese apps from the country in the name of data privacy and security.
- The list mostly consists of dating apps that pose the risk of ‘honey trapping’ officials or soldiers.
- It also bans the online shopping application AlibabaExpress.
This is the third such list that the government has issued in which no direct mention has been made to China or the app’s origins, but the list still exclusively consists of Chinese mobile apps.
Notable names that have been featured on the list are the e-commerce company AliExpress, Snack Video — which had been gaining popularity after the ban of TikTok — and Alibaba Workbench.
However, more notably, out of the 43 apps that India has chosen to ban, 15 are dating apps.
