  • Open WhatsApp and go to ‘Settings.’
  • Now tap on ‘Chats’ then ‘Chat backup’ and at last tap on’ Back up’.
  • After that, under Google Drive settings you can set the frequency for data backup also you get a manual option to back up your chats to Google Drive anytime you want.
  • Once you have set the backup frequency, select the Google account where you want to back up chat history and media.
  • Now, tap on ‘Back up’ and choose the network connectivity Wi-Fi or LTE to back up WhatsApp data.

How to restore your chat history on Android


The process of restoring WhatsApp chats from Google Drive is quite simple and it will take a few minutes. Make sure you use the same phone number and Google account which you used to create the back. Remember, you can only restore WhatsApp chat and media while logging into your WhatsApp account.
Further, follow the given steps-
  • Reinstall the app and verify your mobile number.
  • When prompted to another window, tap on the ‘Restore’ button to restore chats and media from Google Drive.
  • Once the restoration process is completed tap on ‘Next.’
