Oppo Reno 10 Pro+ review: A camera-centric smartphone at a premium
  • The Oppo Reno 10 Pro+ is the latest premium smartphone from the company in India.
  • The Oppo Reno 10 Pro+ is priced at ₹54,999 and is available in a single variant.
  • Here’s my review of the Oppo Reno 10 Pro+ that will help you decide whether to buy the device or not.
Oppo recently launched its Reno 10 series in India, which includes the vanilla Reno 10, Reno 10 Pro and the Reno 10 Pro+. As the name suggests, the Reno 10 Pro+ is the premium offering in the series and is loaded with features.

The Oppo Reno 10 Pro+ comes with several improvements over its predecessor, including a powerful processor, decent cameras and fast charging support. Oppo has claimed that this is the first smartphone to offer a 64MP telephoto camera with OIS.

I have been using the Oppo Reno 10 Pro+ for a few days now, and here is my review of the latest premium device from the smartphone maker.

Pros

Cons

Design and Display
One of the things that usually helps Oppo’s Reno series stand apart is its design. The Oppo Reno 10 Pro+ features an elegant design as well and is available in two colour options – Glossy Purple and Silvery Grey. I reviewed the Glossy Purple colour variant.

The device comes with a glass back with Corning Gorilla Glass 5, which protects it from scratches and prevents damage. It comes with a glossy finish and prevents fingerprint smudges.

There is a large oval camera module on the left and the device comes with Oppo branding on the bottom.

While the left side is bare, the right side houses the volume rockers and the power button.

On the top, the device features the speaker grille, an IR sensor and a microphone.

At the bottom, the device features the speaker grille, USB Type-C port, a microphone and the SIM tray.

Coming to the display, the Oppo Reno 10 Pro+ features a 6.7-inch 1.5K curved OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1400 nits peak brightness. The display is protected by AGC Dragontrail Star 2 glass.

The display comes with HDR10+ support and offers good visuals. The high peak brightness ensures good visibility, even in direct sunlight. The sleek bezels offer a distraction-free experience.

Software and performance

The Oppo Reno 10 Pro+ runs on Android 13 out of the box with the company’s ColorOS 13.1 on top. The device will receive three years of Android updates and four years of security updates.

Those familiar with ColorOS will know that it is a highly customizable version of Android. It adds a lot of features and allows you to customise the device as per your preference.

You may expect the device to be bloatware-free after paying a premium price but the Oppo Reno 10 Pro+ disappoints in this aspect. The device comes pre-installed with applications such as Tiki, ShareChat, Snapchat, Moj, Dream11 and more.

In addition to this, you also get a “recommended applications” screen while setting up the phone. The device also has the “Hot Apps” and “Hot Games” folders, which are again filled with recommended applications for you to install.

Coming to the performance, the Oppo Reno 10 Pro+ is equipped with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset coupled with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

The powerful chipset, coupled with ample RAM and storage allows the device to easily multitask. I tried popular titles such as Battlegrounds Mobile India and Call of Duty: Mobile on the smartphone. The device offers a good gaming experience, even with Full HD graphics and I did not notice any stuttering or lags.

It is powered by a 4,700mAh battery coupled with 100W fast charging support. The company has claimed that the device can be fully charged in 27 minutes, allowing you to quickly power up the smartphone. The device easily offers a day of use in a single charge.

Camera

Coming to the camera department, the Oppo Reno 10 Pro+ features a triple camera setup at the back consisting of a 50MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera and 64MP periscope telephoto camera.

The camera is one of the areas where the Oppo Reno 10 Pro+ performs well and offers excellent value. The images captured using the 50MP primary sensor turned out well, capturing good details and in daylight conditions. Optical image stabilisation (OIS) ensures the camera gets good details even with shaky hands.

Shoots clicked indoors with good lighting turned out well and the device was able to capture them with minimal noise. In low-light conditions, there is a decrease in details and there is visible noise.

Images captured using the telephoto lens turned out well, capturing good detail with proper edge detection and no unnecessary blurring. The portrait mode works well and even close-up portraits came out with good detail.

On the front, the smartphone features a 32MP selfie camera which captures good images in daylight and indoors. The images captured in low-light turned out decently, with minimal loss of details.
Verdict
The Oppo Reno 10 Pro+ has a lot going for it, including the sleek design, powerful performance, reliable cameras and the fast-charging support. At the same time, it has its fair share of issues, such as the presence of bloatware on the smartphone. At this price point, it is close to the flagship$4.

At the end of the day, one needs to consider if he/she is okay with the bloatware and is willing to pay a premium for the camera and the design before deciding whether to purchase the smartphone or not.
