Apple MacBook Pro and AirPods 3 launched – Indian pricing, features and everything you need to know

Apple has announced the much-awaited upgrade to the MacBook Pro and the AirPods 3 at its Apple Unleashed event. The company also announced a new subscription tier for Apple Music and three new color variants for the HomePod Mini.

Apple MacBook Pro pricing and availability

The Apple MacBook Pro is now available on the Apple online store and will be available from Apple authorized resellers from October 26.

Apple MacBook Pro features

The new MacBook Pro comes with the company’s M1 Pro and M1 Max. The M1 Pro chipset includes a 10-core CPU with eight high-performance cores and two high-efficiency cores along with a 16-core GPU. Apple has claimed that this chipset can deliver up to 70% faster performance and two times faster GPU performance than the existing M1 chipset.


The M1 Max chipset uses the same 10-core CPU as the M1 Pro but comes with a 32-core GPU, which Apple claims offers four times better performance than the chipset.

The new MacBook Pro has been launched in two display variants. The first is a 14.2-inch variant and the second is a 16.2-inch variant. Both the variants feature a Liquid Retina XDR display and come with ProMotion technology that offers adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz. One of visible changes is the use of a notch that is aimed at reducing bezels.

In terms of storage, the M1 Pro variants offer 16GB of unified memory which can be further expanded up to 64GB. It is available with 512GB and 1TB, which can be further expanded up to 8TB. The M1 Max variant comes with 32GB of unified memory and a 1TB SSD.

The device runs on the new macOS Monterey operating system and comes with a backlit Magic keyboard. It is equipped with a 1080p FaceTime HD camera and a three-mic array.

In terms of connectivity, the device offers three Thunderbolt 3 ports, one Thunderbolt 4 port, USB 4 port and the MagSafe 3 port.

Apple AirPods 3 price and availability

The Apple AirPods 3 has been priced at ₹18,500 and is now available from the Apple online store. Like the MacBook Pro, the AirPods 3 will also be available from Apple authorized resellers from October 26.

The company has slashed the prices of AirPods 2 by ₹2,000 and it is now available for ₹12,900.

Apple AirPods 3 features

The Apple AirPods 3 are similar to the AirPods Pro in terms of design with shorter stems that provide better grip. The new AirPods 3 come with dynamic head tracking and support spatial audio. The device comes with a wireless charging case and supports Apple’s MagSafe.


The earbuds come with force sensors for pressure controls that allow you to easily control music playback and calls.

It comes with the company’s existing H1 chip, a custom driver and a high dynamic range amplifier. The company has provided support for AAC-LED codec that promises full HD voice quality for FaceTime calls.

The AirPods 3 are water resistant and come with IPX4 rating. It offers a battery life of up to 6 hours and up to 30 hours of listening time with the charging case. Apple has claimed that 5 minutes of charging will provide an hour of battery life.

Apple Music voice plan

Apple has also announced a new subscription tier for Apple Music, dubbed as the Voice Plan. It has been priced at ₹49 per month and offers access to Apple Music’s catalog of 90 million songs, playlists and stations. It can be used across all Apple devices.

Apple HomePod mini

The HomePod mini will now be available in three colors – Blue, Yellow and Orange. The device is already available in White and Space Grey color options.
