According to a 2020 report by techARC, while the overall market for gaming consoles saw a dip during the coronavirus pandemic, PlayStation was bucking the trend. The PS4 console dominated the Indian market, shipping around 39,000 units to India, accounting for 92% of the gaming consoles being sent to India during the first three quarters of 2020.

“Microsoft Xbox is losing the grip of the market and Sony’s PlayStation is sweeping the opportunity. There is definitely scope for a few more brands to foray into the category with value for money proposition,” noted Faisal Kawoosa, the founder and chief analyst at techARC.
