CES 2022is scheduled to start on January 5 and continue until January 8, 2022.
- Major tech companies have pulled out from in-person events but the show will continue to take place.
- Here’s a look at what major announcements we can expect at CES 2022.
AdvertisementThe Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2022 is taking place as planned despite the rise in Covid-19 cases due to the Omicron variant. After an all-digital CES 2021, things looked bright for 2022 with a physical event planned with major tech companies confirming their presence.
But in the past few weeks, it started looking grim for CES 2022 as companies including Amazon, Facebook, Google, Intel and Microsoft started cancelling their in-person events. CES 2022 is however still taking place at the Las Vegas Convention Center from January 5 to January 8, and there's still a lot to look forward to at this show.
We’re expecting some major announcements in the computing front with Intel’s rumoured graphics card ‘Arc Alchemist’ expected to debut at CES 2022. Joining Intel could be NVIDIA with new GPUs expected to be unveiled and rumours suggest an RTX 3090 Ti along with new additions to their older modes. CES 2022 is all about future tech and it’s what we might get to see from MediaTek with rumours hinting at the company showcasing their Wi-Fi 7 technology.
CES is big for TVs and we’re expecting the same this time around. LG will showcase its next-generation OLED panel technology ‘OLED EX’. LG says OLED EX offers 30% more brightness than the current OLED panels. We’re expecting more on the futuristic screen front from LG at CES 2022.
Samsung is also expected to introduce a new display technology ‘Quantum Dot OLED’ or ‘QD-OLED’ which is set to compete with high-end OLED TVs. From TCL, we’re expecting new 6-Series Mini LED TVs and we could see some futuristic devices as well. Sony is also expected to unveil new TVs at CES 2022.
CES 2022 like previous years will be another place for many new laptops from brands like Acer, Dell, Razer and MSI. New laptop technology such as Mini LED displays and DDR5 RAM is expected to be showcased at CES 2022.
Smartphones aren’t big at CES 2022 so this time too we don’t expect anything major but for those on the lookout can expect some notable launches like the rumoured Galaxy S21 FE and new models from the Galaxy A series. One event that’s confirmed is Asus launching its ROG gaming tablet, a first of its kind on January 4.
Pet robots, robot vacuum cleaners and commercial robots are a big part of CES and we expect no less at CES 2022. At the previous event, we got to see robots that can set the dining table and even pour a glass of wine. We also saw an autonomous disinfecting robot from LG, and some cute pet robots. At CES 2022 too we're expecting an interesting lineup of robots and one that’s confirmed is a four-in-one cleaning robot by Pudu Robotics.
