Elon Musk has turned some of Twitter's office space in its San Francisco headquarters into bedrooms.
Two people familiar with the matter confirmed the news to Insider. $4 also reported the news on Monday, citing sources.
Twitter employees on Monday discovered some offices and conference rooms in the company's headquarters had bare mattresses and curtains inside, two anonymous people with knowledge of the matter told Forbes. One room also featured a plant, they added.
Forbes obtained a photo from a source showing one of the converted bedrooms. The photo appeared to show a queen size bed, a wooden bedside table, a table lamp, two armchairs, and bright orange carpet inside the room, according to Forbes.
It was unclear how many bedrooms there were in total, the publication reported, but one person with knowledge of the matter said there could be between four and eight bedrooms per floor. The person added the rooms looked "comfortable."
A few of the bedrooms were located on a floor that was mainly unused, another source familiar with the situation told Forbes. A trash can in one of the office bedrooms already had waste inside, indicating that an employee had used the amenities, the source added.
"People are already putting in late nights, so it makes sense to an extent," the source told Forbes.
Platformer's Zoë Schiffer $4 on Tuesday that a Twitter employee told her the library inside Twitter's headquarters had been transformed into a sleeping area, which they described as "cozy."
Twitter failed to announce or explain the reasons behind the new office bedrooms to employees, one person familiar with the situation told Forbes. They assumed the beds were intended for staff working "$4" to use when they work overnight at the office as part of Musk's "Twitter 2.0," per Forbes.
"It's not a good look," one source told Forbes. "It's yet another unspoken sign of disrespect. There is no discussion. Just like, beds showed up."
Twitter didn't immediately respond to Insider's request for comment made outside of normal US working hours.
Weeks after Musk took over Twitter, he sent an $4, outlining his vision for "Twitter 2.0" and told workers that they would need to be "extremely hardcore" and work "long hours at high intensity" to remain at the company. In separate $4, he doubled down on remote work and $4 it was more effective for employees to work together in person.
In early November, a Twitter employee $4 of his boss Esther Crawford, the director of product management at Twitter, sleeping on the office floor. Musk has $4 about how he used to sleep on couches in Tesla factories and under his desk so his team could see him during shift changes.
