Search giant Google is all set to host the I/O 2024, the company’s biggest annual developer conference today in Mountain View, California. In addition to an in-person event at the Shoreline Amphitheatre, the company will also live-stream the event for its fans across the world.

Google is expected to make several announcements at the conference and artificial intelligence (AI) is expected to be the highlight of the event. The company usually makes several major announcements related to hardware and software at the I/O event
Google I/O event date and time
The Google I/O event is scheduled for May 14 at 10:30 PM in India. The event will be live-streamed on the company’s website or its YouTube channel.
What to expect from the Google I/O event
Android 15
Google is expected to announce Android 15 at the I/O event and also reveal the launch date and rollout schedule for the latest version of Android. Android 15 is currently in beta and is available for selected Pixel users.

Like each year, Android 15 is expected to bring a host of new features and design changes. The features expected to be announced include end-to-end contact encryption, improved satellite connectivity, app archiving, partial screen sharing and more.
AI in focus
AI has become a key part of any major tech announcement these days and Google will keep this at the forefront for its developer conference. Google is expected to announce Gemini integration for several of its applications at the event, including Gmail, Maps, Chrome and more.

A good portion of the event is expected to be around how the company is using generative AI for Search. The company is expected to bring generative AI to several of its applications to make users’ lives easier.
Hardware announcements
Google has already launched the Pixel 8a and there’s some time before we can get our hands on the next-gen Pixel Fold 2. While there may not be any device launches at the event, the company may showcase or tease some of its upcoming devices such as the Pixel 9 series or the next foldable offering from the company.
Pixie
Google is expected to announce its Gemini-powered AI assistant, dubbed as Pixie at the I/O event. Pixie will be a personalised digital assistant that is expected to offer features such as the ability to click images of objects to get detailed information about them, including where you can buy them.
