  • Coachella is here, and a recent TikTok that went viral shows that Tim Cook has attended in the past.
  • Last year, the Apple CEO was also seen standing front-row at Harry Styles's Coachella set.

Coachella kicked off over the weekend, and a recent TikTok that went viral serves as a reminder that the music festival has been frequented in the past by Apple CEO Tim Cook, who has attended multiple times.

In a video posted to TikTok on Sunday, Cook and Apple's senior vice president of services, Eddy Cue, can be seen walking around the festival grounds last year.

Despite reaching billionaire status, Cook is known for maintaining a frugal lifestyle. He's admitted to rarely taking lavish vacations, and unlike some billionaires, he doesn't have a private yacht. But Cook does regularly set aside the time to attend the annual Indio, California music festival.

He also attended in 2019, and posed for a photo with DJ and music producer Diplo at the festival.

It's not clear if Cook plans to attend the festival this year, which concludes Sunday, April 23. An Apple spokesperson did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment. Cook was most recently photographed in India to celebrate the opening of the first Apple Store in the country.

Cook, who took over as Apple's CEO in 2011 after Steve Jobs, has talked about his love for music in the past.

"I couldn't make it through a workout without music," he told Fast Company in 2018 while discussing Apple's efforts in the music-streaming space. "Music inspires, it motivates. It's also the thing at night that helps quiet me. I think it's better than any medicine."

Correction, April 18, 2023: The TikTok showing Tim Cook walking around Coachella was filmed in 2022, not in 2023 as the article originally stated. The article and its headline have been updated to correct the error.
