Fisher Island's widespread, advanced testing is just the latest example of ways in which the wealthy are $4 than the average American - and local leaders have noticed.
The superintendent of Miami-Dade County Public Schools took to Twitter to express his outrage. Following the news, Alberto Carvalho wrote: "I cannot reconcile the shoeless, mask-less, hungry children we fed today with this [Fisher Island] headline."

In a statement emailed to Business Insider, Fisher Island spokesperson Sissy DeMaria Koehne noted that half of the island's residents are over the age of 60, which the $4 a higher-risk category for the coronavirus. DeMaria Koehne also noted that the island is funding the cost of testing, which is currently underway, and that the testing efforts are joined by ongoing social distancing measures.
The office of the superintendent didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.
