While science fiction regularly depicts AI as robots with human-like characteristics, AI can envelop anything from Google's search algorithms to IBM's Watson to autonomous weapons. AIBrain is an artificial intelligence company headquartered at Stanford Research Park in Palo Alto, California. Its current focus is to manufacture AI solutions to bolster both personal and social intelligence by means of smartphones and robotics.

With investors like JP Morgan Chase and Andreessen Horowitz, the company has raised a total funding of $157.5 million. It is an entertainment robotics company devoted to conveying artificial intelligence and robotics to our everyday lives.

IBM

IBM
IBM has been a leader in AI research since the field's early days in the 1950's, when Arthur Samuel developed a checker player that learned from experience. This work was one of the earliest and most influential examples of machine learning. Forty years later, IBM Research's chess-playing program Deep Blue made history when it beat Gary Kasparov, becoming the first chess-playing program to defeat a reigning world champion.
