Bhopal, Oct 23 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced that Covid-19 vaccine, when available, will be administered free of cost to the poor in the state. Chouhan said: "Since the time Covid-19 vaccine trials started in India, there has been one discussion among the poor people -- 'whether we will be able to afford the vaccine?' Today, I want to make it clear that every poor person in Madhya Pradesh will get the vaccine free of cost. We will win this battle." Bhopal, Feb 1 () Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday hailed the Union Budget for 2021-22 as 'Atmanirbhar Bharat ka budget" which would create job opportunities and fuel growth. He said the steps taken by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi "to create new employment opportunities and favourable conditions for business will help in the making of Atmanirbhar Bharat". "It is Atmanirbhar Bharat Ka Budget. The Prime Minister has given the Mantra of Reform, Perform and Transform! Providing benefits to each section of society during tough times of COVID-19 and helping a number of nations around the globe, India has been marching forward on all frontiers," the CM said on Twitter. In a series of tweets after the Union Budget was presented in Parliament in the morning, Chouhan said the steps taken under the leadership of Modi will "not only benefit in the present, but will also benefit us in future". Union Budget: 'Atmanirbhar Bharat ka budget', says MP CM

With the Opposition abstaining due to "Corona curfew" the new Chief Minister of <keyword id="6355554" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Madhya-Pradesh">Madhya Pradesh</keyword> <keyword id="94770" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Shivraj-Singh-Chouhan">Shivraj Singh Chouhan</keyword> won a unanimous trust vote on Tuesday. The Assembly proceedings began at 11 a.m. but not a single Congress MLA arrived to attend the House and the vote of confidence turned into a farcical exercise. All MLAs favoured the government. Earlier Narmada Prasad Prajapati resigned as the Speaker and MLA Jagdish Deora completed the proceedings as pro-tem Speaker. The session was then adjourned till March 27. After the demise of two members and resignation of 22 the strength of the Legislative Assembly is 206. The abstaining Congress has 92 members and it has a support of two Independents. Besides, there are two of BSP, one of SP and two independent MLAs. BJP would have normally needed 104 votes to prove its majority. It has 107 MLAs. While presenting the trust vote Chouhan said that the Governor has asked his government to prove majority in 15 days while it has earned it on day one itself. After 15 months and six days, Shivraj Singh Chouhan has become the Chief Minister of the state again. Chouhan is the only leader of the state to hold this post for the fourth time. In view of the corona crisis, only 40 people were called to the oath ceremony. The seating arrangement ensured a distance of at least one meter between each invitee. Barring Doordarshan and ANI no media representatives were handed invitations. After taking the oath, Chouhan said the only priority now is to prevent spread of Corona virus. This is a big challenge. I will first review the situation and take immediate decisions. After the Assembly session on Tuesday, he appointed Iqbal Singh Bains as the new Chief Secretary of the state replacing Gopal Reddy.

Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains said the test capacity has now reached 788 per day while by April 10 we will conduct 1,000 tests per day. MP CM orders sealing of COVID-19 hotspots in Indore, Bhopal and Ujjain

The ongoing lockdown, which is inplace in view of <keyword id="1754604" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="coronavirus">coronavirus</keyword> outbreak, might be extended in <keyword id="6355554" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Madhya-Pradesh">Madhya Pradesh</keyword> if needed, Chief Minister <keyword id="94770" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Shivraj-Singh-Chouhan">Shivraj Singh Chouhan</keyword> said here on Tuesday. "We will take a decision after seeing the circumstances. Lives of people are more important. We can tolerate lockdown. We can resurrect the economy later on butcan't be able to bring back lives of people," Chouhan said ina video statement. The coronavirus cases in Madhya Pradesh reached 256 on Monday night as 23 cases were reported in the last 12 hours. Indore with 151 cases has the highest number while Bhopal has 61 patients as six new cases were reported here. Apart from Indore-Bhopal, 12 cases have been reported in Morena, eight each in Jabalpur and Ujjain, four in <keyword id="6423217" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="khargone">Khargone</keyword>, three in Barwani, two each in Gwalior, Shivpuri and Chhindwara, and one each Betul, Vidisha. One patient is from Uttar Pradesh. 35 localities in Indore have been sealed for containment. The state capital also recorded its first Corona death in the wee hours of Monday. With 23 positive cases the state capital had recorded highest one- day hike by Sunday night. With Monday's 14 cases 37 cases have been recorded in 24 hours. A patient from the old city who was admitted in a private nursing home. Report confirming his positive status was received on Sunday afternoon. He was admitted to the nursing home four days ago with respiratory problem. Monday's reports included five health department employees and seven Jamaatis. The total number of infected in Bhopal increased to 61. With infection spreading to new localities health department teams will reach out to areas earmarked for containment and door-to-door screening. The radius of one kilometre around the houses of all patients will remain out of bounds for others. Screening began on Monday. Family members are quarantined home. The risk of community transmission has increased in Bhopal. On the instructions of Collector <keyword id="3960191" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="tarun-pithode">Tarun Pithode</keyword>, ADM Satish Kumar amended the order under section 144 Cr PC. From Monday, only medical stores, milk parlours and home delivery facilities will be available. Petrol pumps, grocery and other shops have been exempted. Passes given for all reasons other than emergency services have also been suspended. Fourteen deaths have been recorded till Monday night. Nine have died in Indore, two in Ujjain, one each in Bhopal, Chhindwara and Khargone. MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan hints at a possible extension to lockdown

Bhopal, May 19 () Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said despite the states economy collapsing" due to COVID-19 outbreak, the government has transferred over Rs 16,000 crore into the accounts of the poor, labourers and farmers to ease their hardships. In a televised address on Monday night, Chouhan also said that migrant labourers need not worry as arrangements were being made to send them home by buses and trains. "The state's economy has collapsed due to coronavirus, but we have transferred more than Rs 16,000 crore into the poor, labourers, farmers, children, among others, so that no section of the society has to face any problem," he said. He said more than 91 trains and thousands of buses have been deployed to transport migrant workers to their native places. "The government is also making arrangements for their food, ration and jobs. Labourers without ration cards are also being given free ration. Job cards are being made available to those labourers who want to work. The government has decided that these labourers will be eligible for (benefits under) the Sambal Yojna, Chouhan said. The Sambal Yojna is aimed at strengthening the lives of poor by providing them social security cover. "We are also taking full care of labourers of Madhya Pradesh stranded in other states. We will not allow them to walk or go to sleep hungry in the state. Every labourer is being transported to the border of the state and about 1,000 buses are engaged daily in this work," Chouhan said. Facilities like food, tea, snacks are being provided to them. Along with the governance and administration, public is also treating them like guests and social organisations are providing them shoes and slippers, he said. Noting that there have been some accidents during the movement of labourers, he said an assistance of Rs 5 lakh each has been provided to families of all workers who died after being run over by a goods train in Aurangabad (Maharashtra). Besides, Rs 14 lakh has been given to families of labourers killed in an accident at Barwani in the state. Chouhan also said that Rs 1 lakh each will be given to labourers from other states who die in accidents in Madhya Pradesh, and Rs 25,000 each will be given to those injured. On relief to farmers, he said over 90 lakh metric tonne of wheat has been purchased on support price in the state and payments worth over Rs 10,000 crore has been made to cultivators. "Farmers need not worry at all, the government will purchase every grain of their crop," he said, adding that procurement of gram, lentil and mustard on support price is also in progress. Cultivators should go to procurement centres to sell their produce only after receiving the SMS, and maintain two yards distance from each other and adopt all safety measures to stay protected against COVID-19, he said. The government has also re-implemented the system of providing crop loans to farmers at zero per cent interest, Chouhan said. Indore, Apr 19 () Madhya Pradesh Chief MinisterShivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday mourned the death of a 41-year-old police officer from the coronavirus infection andannounced a compensation of Rs 50 lakh to his kin and the postof sub-inspector for his wife.Chouhan tweeted that the inspector sacrificed his lifein the battle against the outbreak."He was undergoing treatment at the Aurobindo Hospitalin Indore and recently (after the treatment of COVID-19) hetested negative and this was good news for us. But at 2 amlate last night, the sad news of his death was receivedsuddenly," Chouhan said in a tweet.Announcing a compensation of Rs 50 lakh, Chouhan alsotweeted that "the inspector's wife is being appointed as asub-inspector in the department".Superintendent of Police Maheshchandra Jain told the deceased officer was on duty in Juni Indore police stationbefore he got infected with the virus."Despite all the efforts of doctors, the life of thepolice inspector could not be saved. He is survived by hiswife and two daughters," Jain added.Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Praveen Jadiasaid the officer tested postive and was admitted in hospitalabout 20 days back, and then post-treatment, tested negativetwo times and was discharged as per protocol."The doctors at the private hospital suspect the causeof death may have been pulmonary embolism (a problemassociated with arterial blood clotting). COVID-19: Cop dies, MP CM announces Rs 50 lakh compensation

The incident happened at 11.30 pm on Tuesday when seven coaches of Kamayani Express, bound for Varanasi, and five bogies of Janata Express, bound for Mumbai, were crossing the bridge in Harda, some 160 km from Bhopal. 
 
The toll is expected to go further up. The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=indian+railways">Railways</a> has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased, Rs 50,000 to grievously injured and Rs 25,000 to those with minor injuries. 
 
Meanwhile, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=shivraj+singh+chouhan">Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan</a> will visit the site later in the day. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Nitish+Kumar">Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar</a> also condoled the deaths. 
 
"Seven bogies of Kamayani Express and engine plus three coaches of Janata Express were derailed between Khirkiya and Bhirangi stations near Harda. The mishap took place around 11.30 PM on Tuesday as base material of the tracks got washed away in heavy rains. Nearly 25 passengers suffered injuries," West Central Railway PRO Piyush Mathur told news agency PTI. 
 
Search operations have been launched and few coaches also fell in the river. Bhopal Railway PRO told PTI that more than 250 passengers were rescued so far. 
 
Meanwhile, Minister of State of Railways Ministry Manoj Sinha said it was not a manmade disaster but a natural calamity.

Flash floods derail two trains in MP, over 24 dead, 25 injured

Prominent Hindu seer -- <keyword id="6402998" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="shankaracharya" source="Orion">Shankaracharya</keyword> of Jyotish, Dwarka and Sharda peeth -- <keyword id="1732665" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="swami-swaroopanand" source="Orion">Swami Swaroopanand</keyword> Saraswati died at his ashram in Madhya Pradesh's Narsinghpur district on Sunday. The 99-year-old seer -- perhaps the oldest surviving Shankaracharya, passed away following prolonged illness. As per the information, the seer breathed last at around 3.30 p.m. after a mild heart attack at the Jhoteshwar Paramhansi Ganga Ashram. Just a few days ago, the seer had celebrated his 99th birthday on the occasion of Hartalika Teej. Narsinghpur MLA and former MP Vidhan Sabha Speaker N.P. Prajapati (who is among the Shankaracharya's disciples), informed that his Samadhi (symbolic funeral) will take place at 4 p.m. on Monday near the hillside Ashram in the same Narsinghpur district. Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati was born at a village known as Dighori in Seoni district in Madhya Pradesh in 1924. He was born in a Brahmin family and his childhood name was Potiram Upadhyay. He had left home when aged just nine years only in pursuit of god. He was a direct disciple of Shankaracharya Brahmananda Saraswati of Jyotir Math and of Shankaracharya (disputed) Krishnabodha Ashrama of Jyotirmath. In 1950, his Guru Brahmananda made him a Dandi Sanyasi. He became the president of Akhil Bhartiya Ram Rajya Parishad established by Swami Karpatriji. On Krishnabodha Ashrama's demise in 1973, the title of Shankaracharya (disputed) of Jyotir Math, Badrinath passed to Swami Swaroopanand. Nine years later in 1982, he also became the Shankaracharya of Dwarka Peeth. When aged just 18, he had become a part of the country's freedom movement and was known as "Revolutionary Sadhu" for taking part in the 1942 Quit India Movement. He was jailed for it and served a prison sentence for around a year and half. He not only was a veteran Hindu seer, but also held strong opinion on host of other issues, spanning from Ganga pollution, Uniform Civil Code, Abrogation of Article 370 of Indian Constitution, cow and bull slaughter, women worshipping Shani, on Shirdi Sai Baba and on the RSS and coming to power of the Narendra Modi-led BJP in the 2014 general elections. He had also claimed that the Bhoomi Pujan of the proposed Ram Temple in Ayodhya by <keyword id="2238662" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="pm-modi" source="Orion">PM Modi</keyword> on August 5, 2020 was done in an inauspicious muhurt. He had countless disciples spread all over the country, including key politicians, among them former MP CM Digvijaya Singh.
