On the night of July 19, 2023, there was a fire incident at an Indian Army ammunition dump at the camp where he was posted. Captain Singh saw a fibreglass hut engulfed in fire and immediately acted to rescue four to five individuals trapped inside. He went inside the medical investigation room, which was also on fire, to retrieve the critical medical aid box but could not make it out due to heavy fire amid strong winds. Women-led Kinara Capital raises Rs 200 cr to empower MSMEs in India

The Indian technology industry crossed the $200 billion in overall revenue for the first time, and is set to reach $227 billion in overall revenue in FY2022 -- with a growth rate of 15.5 per cent which is the highest-ever since 2011, the IT industry's apex body <keyword id="6372077" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="nasscom" source="Orion">Nasscom</keyword> said on Tuesday. The <keyword id="3199326" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-tech-industry" source="Orion">Indian tech industry</keyword> clocked double-digit growth across sub-sectors, adding $30 billion in revenues in FY2022 and nearly 450,000 jobs. "Fiscal 2022 has been a breakthrough year for the Indian technology industry. We are excited about the opportunities in the 'Techade' as we enter an era of exponential transformation and technology becomes indispensable to progress," said <keyword id="2989513" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rekha-M-Menon" source="Orion">Rekha M. Menon</keyword>, Chairperson, Nasscom. While the IT Services vertical is set to clock $116 billion in revenue in FY2022, the BPM sector is set to log $44 billion; ER&amp;D vertical $36 billion; hardware segment $17 billion and software products, $13 billion. Exports (including hardware) recorded a growth of 17.2 per cent clocking revenue of $178 billion which is over 51 per cent share of <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>'s total services exports, said the Nasscom report. Ecommerce recorded a growth of 39 per cent to reach $79 billion in 2021-22. Digital revenue share stood at 30-32 per cent, recording an incremental revenue of $13 billion. "While exports did play a large part in this growth, domestic market emerged as a great propeller, nearing a total of $50 billion owing to India's tech adoption with public digital platforms like Aadhaar, UPI and CoWIN playing a large part in delivering citizen services," said <keyword id="875687" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="debjani-ghosh" source="Orion">Debjani Ghosh</keyword>, President, Nasscom. India emerged as a global hub for digital talent with over five million tech workforce. With one out of three employees already digitally skilled, the digital tech talent pool is at 1.6 million, growing at a CAGR of 25 per cent. With massive focus on reskilling and upskilling, the Indian tech industry reskilled approximately 280,000 employees in FY2022, said the IT industry's apex body. With over 36 per cent of women employees, the Indian tech industry is one of the largest private-sector women employers in India with over 1.8 million women in the workforce. India continues to be the third largest startup hub in the world with over 25,000 tech start-ups and witnessing 42 new unicorns and 11 IPOs in the year 2021. Over 2,250 tech start-ups were founded in 2021 and a total highest-ever funding of $24 billion was raised in 2021. The industry also witnessed maturity in the software products segment with the presence of over 2,000 software product companies and 1,000 SaaS companies in India. Indian tech industry to reach $227 billion in revenue in FY22, reveals Nasscom report

In a major setback for <keyword id="6354616" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Twitter">Twitter</keyword> in India, the <keyword id="6355014" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="delhi-high-court">Delhi High Court</keyword> on Tuesday pulled up the micro-blogging site for failing to appoint resident grievance officer (RGO), saying, "How long will your process take place? This cannot be allowed", even as the court free pass to the <keyword id="6357307" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Central-Government">central government</keyword> to act against the social media firm. A bench of <keyword id="11297383" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="justice-rekha-palli">Justice Rekha Palli</keyword> told Twitter's counsel, "Come up with a clear response, otherwise you will be in trouble", and sought information on Twitter's compliance with other provisions of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 (IT Rules, 2021) by the next date of hearing. The high court told central government counsel: "We are not stopping you from taking action, court has not granted any protection to Twitter. If they are in <keyword id="42987" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Violation">violation</keyword>, you know what to do." The Centre submitted that <keyword id="749437" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Twitter-India">Twitter India</keyword> is in clear violation of IT Rules,2021. The Centre had informed the Delhi High Court that Twitter has failed to comply with the IT Rules, 2021 as on July 1, on four counts: Chief compliance officer not being appointed; The position of the resident grievance officer being vacant; The position of the nodal contact person (even on an interim basis) being vacant; and The physical contact address, which was shown to be there on May 29, was not available on Twitter's website. The central government counsel submitted before the court that Twitter was given three-month window to comply with IT Rules, but they did not. The counsel added that they are most welcome to do business in India, but they have to comply. The bench said, "I am not giving them any protection. I have already made it clear that they have to comply." Senior Advocate <keyword id="371031" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sajan-Poovayya">Sajan Poovayya</keyword>, representing Twitter India, submitted that an interim grievance officer was appointed, but he had withdrawn his candidature on June 21. The bench responded that after June 21, and till July 6, the least it could have done was appoint another person. "How long does your process take? If Twitter thinks it can take as long it wants in our country, I will not allow that," said the bench. Poovayya sought time to seek instructions on the new appointment, which was allowed by the court, and it passed over the matter. Later, Poovayya submitted that he needs more time to obtain detailed instructions from San Francisco-based Twitter. The bench observed that these rules are binding but Twitter has not appointed anyone till now. The court posted the matter for further hearing on Thursday, and asked Twitter to inform by when it will appoint an RGO and other officials. On May 31, the Delhi High Court had issued a notice to the microblogging platform on a plea by advocate Amit Acharya. The plea had urged the high court to issue directions to the Centre to pass necessary instructions to Twitter India and <keyword id="308642" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Twitter-Inc">Twitter Inc</keyword> to appoint a resident grievance officer under Rule 4 of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 without any delay. The plea had contended that in a nutshell, every significant social media intermediary has the responsibility of appointing not only a resident grievance officer who will act as a single-point authority for receiving and disposing of complaints within a fixed time, but someone should also receive and acknowledge any order, notice and direction issued by the competent authorities. Mumbai, Jul 12 () The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has sealed actor Rekha's bungalow in suburban Bandra after a security guard there tested coronavirus positive, a civic official said on Sunday. The guard at the 65-year-old 'Umrao Jaan' actor's bungalow 'Sea Springs' tested positive on Tuesday, the official said. The BMC has put a board outside the premises declaring the place as a containment area. The security guard has been hospitalised at the BMC's COVID-19 care facility in Bandra Kurla Complex, he said. The actress was in the house during the zero hour, which is the time allotted to members for raising questions on important issues. Although she stayed in the session for no longer than 10 minutes, her presence came in as a welcome change. 
 
According to the Article 104 of the Indian constitution, if a member doesn’t attend the session for more than 60 days, his or her seat is considered to be vacant. Last year, Rekha, along with cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, were criticised for ‘insulting’ the house by not attending the sessions.

A survey conducted by <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/accenture-has-acquired-one-of-the-biggest-digital-agencies-in-germany/articleshow/57256179.cms">Accenture</a> has come up with shocking revlations about the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/survey-reveals-shocking-details-about-gender-pay-gap/articleshow/57495188.cms">gender pay gap</a> in India, citing that Indian men earn 67% more on average than their women counterparts. This disparity is much higher than the global average of 40% across industries. 
 
The survey, titled 'Getting to Equal 2017', is based on the average pay gap between employed men and women across levels in 31 industries over a 12-month period. For the purpose of this survey, bonuses were excluded from consideration, and 28,000 women and men were surveyed in 29 countries.

"Culturally, women are still meant to be prime care-givers at home. It is culturally acceptable for women to take breaks. Even otherwise, women don't negotiate for better pay and are more accepting of what they are offered." 
 
If trends remain as are, the pay gap won't close until 2080 in developed markets, and 2168 in developing markets, said the survey.

Indian men earn 67% more than women, says Accenture survey

Consulting and outsourcing firm <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Accenture+">Accenture</a> has announced Rekha Menon as its new India chairman. 
 The company has also appointed <keyword id="2989507" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Anindya-Basu">Anindya Basu</keyword> as its new country <keyword id="24973" type="POSITION" weightage="60" keywordseo="managing-director">managing director</keyword>. Both the appointments will be effective from August 21, reported the Economic Times. 
 
Menon, who currently heads <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=human+resources+">human resources</a> for growth markets at <keyword id="6370971" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Accenture">Accenture</keyword>, will succeed <keyword id="304288" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Avinash-Vashistha">Avinash Vashistha</keyword> who resigned in July. 
 
"Rekha has made impressive contributions to our people and our communities," said Gianfranco Casati, Accenture's group chief executive, growth markets. 
 
According to the company statement, Basu will be responsible for driving Accenture's <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=domestic+business+">domestic business</a> in India and building relationships with key clients. 
 
Casati said: "Her (Rekha) experience will be extremely valuable as we continue to build our brand and enhance our reputation as a leader in India."

At a time when startups are mushrooming all over the country, <keyword id="6370971" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Accenture">Accenture</keyword> is planning to bring its startup innovation hub concept to the country too. This won’t deter the company to continue working with <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Indian+startups">Indian startups</a>. In an exclusive interview to Economic Times, Gianfranco Casati, group chief executive - growth markets at Accenture said, "I would say that it is more than a possibility (placing a startup hub in India). Collaboration with Indian startups is something already being done." 
 
Casati also said that he is very “optimistic about becoming a source of innovation for the world. Potentially, even more disruptive than China.” 
 
Accenture currently has innovation hubs centred on new-generation technologies such as internet of things (IoT) in <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Silicon+Valley">Silicon Valley</a>. The global consulting and IT giant is already working with Indian startups in its FinTech Innovation Lab in Hong Kong. Not just this, the firm has also given grants to researchers from IIT-Bombay, IIT-Chennai, BITS-Pilani and IISc-Bangalore for research in natural language programming, cognitive learning systems, and dependable software. 
 
There is no denying the fact that innovation boom in India is in its early stages. While on one hand, this has led to the rise in the number of startups, on the other hand, it has got IT majors worried because most of them feel they are losing talent and high-performing employees to startups. 
 However, <keyword id="212964" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Accenture-India">Accenture India</keyword>’s newly appointed chairman, <keyword id="212963" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rekha-Menon">Rekha Menon</keyword> has a different point of view. She says, “We are always training our employees — keeping them future-ready and engaged, because the newer generation wants to learn constantly. And we understand that some employees will want to move to startups, and we support that, because that's the in-built risk in hiring top talent. We have also supported startups started by ex-Accenture employees." 
 
Menon said that the company was training its India workforce of more than 100,00 on newer digital technologies, not just to serve global clients, but also to serve the India market. 
 "We are already seeing the shift in demand to Accenture's new offerings. We are working with <keyword id="6354731" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="State-Bank-Of-India">State Bank of India</keyword> to make them digital, and partnering with Arunachal Pradesh on their digitisation drive. There is states and companies leapfrogging into the digital age," Menon added. 
 
The company is also working on bringing its 3D printing and IoT solutions to India as part of its growth market strategy. Despite volatility in markets such as China and Brazil, Accenture logged double-digit growth in revenues its newer markets for its financial year ended August. 
John O'Brien, analyst with TechMarket-View, pointed out that Accenture achieved double-digit growth across both consulting and outsourcing services, and across all three main geographies of North America (12%), Europe (10%), and growth markets (11%).
