Credit rating agency <keyword id="125045" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="fitch-ratings" source="Orion">Fitch Ratings</keyword> on Thursday said <keyword id="1417402" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tata-consultancy-services-limited" source="Orion">Tata Consultancy Services Limited</keyword>'s (<keyword id="6357150" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="tcs" source="Orion">TCS</keyword>) revenue growth is likely to slow in the financial year ending March 2024 (FY24) amid the global economic slowdown, after strong 3QFY23 results. TCS reported 19 per cent year-on-year (yoy) revenue growth in 3QFY23 and 50bp quarter-on-quarter (qoq) expansion in the EBITDA margin, reflecting continued growth and the company's ability to pass on higher costs to customers, <keyword id="82981" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="fitch" source="Orion">Fitch</keyword> said. Fitch expects TCS's revenue growth to slow to 11 per cent - 12 per cent in FY24 (FY23F: 18 per cent), as Fitch's December 2022 <keyword id="503893" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="global-economic-outlook" source="Orion">Global Economic Outlook</keyword> forecasts US GDP growth to decline to 0.2 per cent in 2023 (2022F: 1.9 per cent) and eurozone GDP growth to decline to 0.2 per cent (2022F: 3.3 per cent), the rating agency said. "We expect a relatively short recession in the US in 2Q23 and 3Q23 but the recovery is unlikely to be rapid with GDP growth still subdued at 1.6 per cent in 2024. We forecast that the Eurozone qoq GDP growth will be negative in 1Q23 before turning positive in the second quarter," Fitch said. TCS received new orders worth $7.6 billion in 3QFY23 (3QFY22: $7.6 billion, 2QFY23: $8.1 billion). The book-to-bill ratio declined to 1.07x in 3QFY23 (3QFY22: 1.17x, historical average since 1QFY19: 1.24x), suggesting some signs of impending slowdown, the credit rating agency said. According to Fitch, its adjusted EBITDA of TCS is expected to remain stable yoy at 25 per cent - 26 per cent in FY24 (FY23F: 25 per cent, 3QFY23: 25.8 per cent) as easing cost pressures are offset by a weakening demand environment. "We expect employee attrition and wage pressures to subside as the global economy slows in 2023 even though TCS's last 12 months' employee attrition remained high at 21 per cent in 3QFY23 (FY19-21 average: 10 per cent), due to the continued shortage of skilled IT labour that led to the increased talent competition," Fitch said. Fitch also expects TCS to generate pre-dividend-free cash flow of Rs 465 billion in FY24 (FY23: Rs 390 billion), which is likely to be almost entirely distributed to shareholders via dividends and share buybacks. "We expect the company to continue to keep a net cash position of more than Rs 400 billion (FY22: Rs 440 billion). We do not expect the company to undertake any major M&amp;A," Fitch added. As regards the Indian information technology sector, Fitch's outlook is stable for 2023. "We expect Indian IT services companies' revenue growth to slightly exceed global competitors' in 2023 and 2024, as customers will most likely prefer lower-cost IT vendors amid an economic downturn," Fitch said. TCS revenue growth to slowdown in FY24: Fitch Ratings

<ul><li>TCS is expected to show a quarterly growth rate of 2.8%, according to analysts. </li><li>The company’s operating margins are expected to expand by 50 basis points (bps). </li><li>The macro environment has been challenging but it should be offset by the rupee depreciation, sustained wages and absence of visa costs. </li></ul>Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will be the first of the Indian IT companies to declare its quarterly earnings this season. This quarter, its double digit growth is expected to be under pressure. Macro slowdown could present challenges for emerging IT demand but analysts from India Infoline (IFFL) Institutional Equities expect it some it to be offset by the recent depreciation of the Rupee. It also helps that visa costs have not increased further, and wages are sustained at current levels. Analysts forecast a 2.8% quarterly growth rate for the company and operating margins to expand by 50 basis points or 0.5%. "Sustenance of healthy growth in communications vertical and recovery in the retail vertical as well as progress on its platform strategy, where TCS is gaining traction in verticals like BFS and life sciences, apart from insurance are key comments to watch," cites IFFL’s report. The BFS sector is particular is of interest to investors as TCS in the midst of implementing large projects in this space. Its order bookings and commentary from clients will help analysts determine its revenue inflow from such deals. A lot will also depend on the spending outlook of large US banks. In the last quarter, TCS reported outsourcing contracts worth $5.7 billion. It was the fourth quarter in a row where it bagged deals worth $5 billion and more.

Rupee to the rescue: TCS quarterly profit might be cushioned by the exchange rate

New Delhi, Jul 15 () Shares of Wipro on Wednesday jumped over 19 per cent after the company posted an increase in consolidated profit to Rs 2,390.4 crore for the quarter ended on June 30, 2020. The stock zoomed 17.70 per cent to Rs 264.90 on the BSE. On the NSE, it jumped 19.42 per cent to Rs 268.70. The company had posted a consolidated profit, attributable to equity holders, of Rs 2,387.6 crore in the same period a year ago. Total income of Wipro was almost flat at Rs 15,571.4 crore at the end of the first quarter of 2020-21 compared to Rs 15,566.6 crore in the corresponding quarter of the fiscal year 2019-20. The marginal increase in Wipro's performance surprised the market as the country's largest software services firm TCS on Thursday reported a 13.8 per cent decline in June quarter consolidated net profit at Rs 7,008 crore on revenues being impacted by the coronavirus crisis. "Margins surprise positively, still appears circumspect of growth recovery unlike TCS. The company avoids providing a formal revenue outlook for the September quarter and unlike TCS, remains circumspect about seeing a recovery in the near term," Emkay Global Services said. According to a report by Motilal Oswal Institutional Equities, while full impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on pricing and working capital cycle is yet to play out, Wipro's outlook on managing margin stability and healthy cash conversions are impressive. Wipro shares rally over 19 pc after Q1 earnings

Top IT firms in India are facing what could be one of their worst quarterly results in the recent past. An already poor performance in usually week Q3 was further damaged by Chennai floods and a general slowdown in the money spent on technology globally. 
 Even as the Indian IT industry stands at $146-billion today, Indian tech giants like <keyword id="6357150" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="TCS">TCS</keyword> and <keyword id="6354512" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Infosys">Infosys</keyword> can still fall short of Nasscom's 12-14% exports growth outlook for FY16. 
 
"Our modelling has factored in a certain figure for the likes of TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) - now we have to wait and see how the Q3 numbers turn out before we change our projections," an unnamed Nasscom executive told ET. 
 
Experts are of the opinion that India's top five software exporters may see a 1-2% fall in revenue, or at their level best, would be able to keep a flat performance, which means that they wouldn’t be posting any profits in Q3, which ends on December 31. TCS and <keyword id="10862" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Wipro">Wipro</keyword>, two of India's largest software exporters, have already issued warnings for Q3, and are afraid that the dark patch may well peek into the next financial year. 
 
"This will be a pretty bad quarter for Indian IT - no two ways about it. If they even manage to post flat growth, it will be seen as a positive by investors," a foreign brokerage analyst tracking India's software outsourcing industry told ET. 2015 has proven to be one of the toughest years for IT service providers, mainly because of clients having cut back on their spending. 
 
To top it, Chennai floods forced many IT firms to shut their offices in the city for several days, adding to the damage that has been done.

This was better than the 11% profit growth clocked by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Infosys’ 5%. Wipro said it expects its IT services revenue will grow, at best, 2% in the following three months ending September, similar to that of Infosys. Infosys had projected a total growth 8.5% to 10% for the full year ending March 2020, which would imply a compounded quarterly growth 1.6% to 1.9%, according to a BOBCAPS research report. TCS to hinted at a double-digit growth for the year. Wipro’s revenue for the first quarter of 2019-20 grew by 5.3% to ₹147.2 billion but the margin in the IT services segment flattened at 18.4%. “We had a slower start to the year, we however remain focused on our operations and continue to invest in talent and capabilities for the future,” said Jatin Dalal, Chief Financial Officer of Wipro. New deals All three major IT service providers from India have bagged new clients helping their outlook going forward. “Our efforts on client mining have resulted in an addition of three customers in more than $100 million bucket. We will continue to build differentiated capabilities to drive business transformation for our customers by investing in our big bets,” said Abidali Z. Neemuchwala, CEO and Executive Director at Wipro. TCS and Infosys too, announced big signings last week along with their quarterly numbers. TCS bagged new deals worth $5.7 billion in the last quarter while Infosys set a new record for itself with new deals worth $2.7 billion. However, the good news for investors is that Wipro plans to continue with its proposed buyback offer of 323 billion shares, which was approved by the board in April, after a green light from market regulator SEBI. The final shareholder approval came in on June 21. Investors may have been worried that the company may rollback the plan after the government decided to impose a 20% tax on share buyback because companies were using share buybacks to give money back to shareholders instead of dividends, which are also taxable in India.

And they will continue to gain more deals, believes Nomura. The negatives bearing IT down Increased number of large size deals is causing companies to miss margin estimates. Additional pressure from increasing visa costs, rising subcontractor costs and higher salary payouts has also taken a toll on margins. Hiring has grown at a yearly rate of 10% and attrition levels remain elevated at 17% to 22%. Three out of the four Indian IT giants — TCS, Infosys, HCL Technologies and Wipro — missing their growth expectations and all them missed margin expectations. Though IT companies chase other markets, they are not immune to Indian slowdown blues. The stagnation in growth is attributed to slowdown in banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) coupled with <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/auto-sales-continue-to-decline-in-august/articleshow/70941671.cms">softness in automobile manufacturing</a>. BFSI’s soft growth and the future outlook is an indicator of the challenges that IT companies are facing in capital markets, large EU banks and regional banks in the US. Retail growth was also flat at 7% to 9%. The brighter side of IT In spite of dragging factors, the IT sector has a few fast growth segments like energy which is growing at 12.7%. Telecom is also is growing at 13.9%. The IT sector, overall, is a part of a growing disruptive transition across the country and the world — digitisation. Digital growth has also been strong for IT companies like TCS, Infosys and Wipro during the first quarter for the current financial year. They have shown quarterly growth of 42.1%, 41.9% and 34.2% respectively. Going forward, Nomura expects Indian IT companies to price their products aggressively in a bid to win more market share. The IT sector is one of the core sectors of the Indian economy. GDP growth is at 5% — a six year low for the country — and re-energising the IT sector which is a huge chunk of services sector, is a key part of the puzzle.
