Indian flyers were shown in poor light during an investigation by the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=UAE&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">UAE</a> aviation authorities. The preliminary reports while probing the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=flight+EK-52&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">flight </a><a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=flight+EK-52&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">EK-52</a>1 incident, which burst into flames minutes after landing that was flying from <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Kerala&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Kerala</a> to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Dubai&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Dubai</a> on August 3 with 282 passengers, of which were Indians, indicated Indians did not follow the instructions at all. 
 As per the reports, during the crash landing, Indians on-board the flight created <keyword id="62689" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="mayhem">mayhem</keyword> and grabbed their hand baggage, even after cabin crew told them not to. 
 According to the preliminary report by <keyword id="3656425" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="UAE-General-Civil-Aviation-Authority">UAE General Civil Aviation Authority</keyword>, passengers were carrying their handbags despite being told not to, during the crucial time of evacuation. The report however, didn’t named Indians openly, but it was quite clear with the line, “with 80% of flyers on the plane from the country.” 
 
According to the report, "The cabin crew members stated that when the aircraft got impacted and slid along the runway, passengers started to unfasten their seatbelts and stand up. An announcement was made for the passengers to remain seated. When the aircraft came to rest, some passengers were screaming, grabbing their belongings, and asking the cabin crew members to open the doors." 
 
"The cabin crew members followed the operator's safety instructions that prohibit passengers taking their carry-on baggage during an evacuation, and they instructed the passengers to leave their bags behind. However, several passengers evacuated the aircraft carrying their baggage. Footage of the evacuation showed a number of passengers outside the aircraft with their baggage," the report adds. 
 It’s normal human behavior to panic in such situations. But several crew members and pilots of Indian carriers say Indians as <keyword id="149113" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flyer">flyer</keyword>s have absurd behavior. However, those who fly for the first time are not much of a problem compared to the frequent “Desi” flyer. 
 According to a pilot "The behavior of scores of frequent flyers is also not good. They hanker for free liquor so much that crew has to firmly deny them more drinks. Their behavior with the crew is also not appropriate as they can be rude to <keyword id="1263067" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="airhostesses">airhostesses</keyword>."

to act during emergencies? A report suggests so

No, this is not a joke. According to India’s national carrier, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Air-India-pilots-back-to-their-old-antics-Guess-who-suffers-the-most/articleshow/48579164.cms">Air India</a>, close to 125 of its cabin personnel, including airhostesses may be ‘grounded’ for being <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Being-Overweight-Isnt-Always-A-Health-Problem/articleshow/21483417.cms">overweight</a>. 
 According to <keyword id="2573" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Air-India">Air India</keyword> sources, the said cabin personnel will either be assigned ground duty or offered voluntary retirement as they have failed to maintain the prescribed weight requirements given by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. 
 Last year itself, the national carrier alleges that it gave over 600 cabin staff to ‘shape up’ within a specific time if they wanted to continue their flight duty, following guidelines by the DGCA that no <keyword id="21091" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="overweight">overweight</keyword> or obese person continues being a flight stewardess or hostess. 
 
The specific time given to the staff was around 18 months. Their reasoning is that a fitter person will be able to respond quicker and more efficiently in case of any untoward incident. 
 As per the regulations, a male <keyword id="55080" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Cabin-crew">cabin crew</keyword> is required to have a <keyword id="6378215" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="BMI">BMI</keyword> of 18-25, which for a female cabin crew, the acceptable number is 18-22. Thus, any male crew with a BMI of 25-29.9 is considered overweight while for females, a BMI of 22-27 determines if they’re overweight or not.

At present, Air India has 3,500 cabin crew staff, of which 2,200 employees are permanent while the remaining are on contract. 
 
However, this is not the first time Air India has been involved in a decision like this. In 2009 itself, they had dismissed nine air-hostesses due to their weight issues and if that wasn’t enough in 2004, the airline had announced that potential airhostesses should not have any scars, marks or acne on their faces, as they have a responsibility to look good.

As domestic flights in India are operational again, bookings have gone up as many salaried Indians, stuck in different cities because of their jobs, are now going to their hometowns as work from home continues or vice versa. A tale of two cities and their airports On June 12, I took a flight from Delhi to Bhubaneswar. Delhi, which has one of the largest <keyword id="457471" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Airports-in-India">airports in India</keyword>, is currently operational only from the T3 terminal. There are multiple flights operational and there’s actually a rush at the airport. Once at the boarding gate, the airlines will distribute a kit which includes a mask, face shield, and sanitizer sachets. The actor was announced the winner of the National Film Award for Best Actor for his role as Captain Rustom Pawri in the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/entertainment/Rustom-release-Akshay-Kumars-Rustom-is-inspired-by-this-real-life-story-and-it-is-a-must-read/articleshow/53663632.cms">semi-autobiographical movie</a>, based on the story of Naval Officer K. M. Nanavati.

These are the 64th National Film Awards, and the jury was headed by director Priyadarshan.

Akshay Kumar wins the National Award for best actor; 'Neerja' wins best film

If you’re a 90s kid, that lyrical tune, a gush of waterfall and bikini clad girl would surely evoke nostalgia and your heart feels with a joy whenever you remember the TV commercial. At a time when getting bold wasn’t encouraged by the audience, curving out aesthetics out of bikini has surely given Liril a high five in its marketing ambit. 
 
And guess what the news is? The Liril girl is back, thanks to Hindustan Unilever’s strategy to relaunch its soap brand Liril. 
 
"These are the roots of Liril. They don't change. And what we're doing is paying homage to the Liril that we all know, bringing alive the very same elements that have been part of our popular culture through time," George Koshy, general manager for personal wash category at HUL told The Economic Times. 
 
The marble green soap brand made waves 40 years ago when model and Air India air-hostess Karen Lunel wore a swimsuit and danced under a cascade to the catchy jingle, reads the ET news report. 
 
"It is an iconic ad in Indian memory and even newer people are interested in history if there is a back story as interesting as that of Liril. In a low-involvement category like soaps, Liril will stand out and surely gain share now," Alpana Parida, president at brand consultancy firm DY Works has told the ET. 
 
After 1985, the brand was defined by models Pooja Batra, Preity Zinta and Deepika Padukone - each seen playing in the water and swimming under the waterfall. But they were merely shadows of the original ad. 
 
Also, it wasn't the same after the 90s, when the lemon product was diluted with variants such as orange and icy blue, followed by a name change to Liril 2000 a decade ago. 
 
"I feel vindicated because there are some appeals that are timeless. Freshness in a tropical country has an eternal appeal which is now being revived," Padamsee told the financial daily, adding that Liril promised a few minutes of freedom from the daily grind of the Indian housewife. 
 
The new campaign, featuring Brazilian model Anabelle and created by Lowe, was launched on social media last week. 
 
"'Must have taken a lot of guts to go back', was one particular response and that sums up our approach - stick to the core," said Koshy. 
 
While the image of the lime and lemony zest soap brand and its ad may not have faded away, its market share did - falling from a high of over 14 per cent three decades ago to less than 2 per cent now - in the Rs 16,000-crore soap category.
