But while most DEXs are run by the concept of automated market makers (<keyword id="306195" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="amm" source="Orion">AMM</keyword>), the <a href="https://dodoex.io/" data-type="tilCustomLink">DODO project</a> aims to take things a step further and change how DEXs work even before they become truly mainstream. It has over $5 million in funding and is backed by Binance, among others.<br /><br />DODO is a <keyword id="1337625" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dex" source="Orion">DEX</keyword> platform that promises traders “highly capital efficient liquidity pools that support single token provision, reduce impermanent loss, and minimise slippage”. That promise comes from what the platform called proactive market maker (<keyword id="306910" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="pmm" source="Orion">PMM</keyword>), a new kind of algorithm that makes buy and sell decisions on the platform.<br /><cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="wazirx" comment="wazirx" text="wazirx"><span data-til="noop">wazirx</span></cmsannotation><br /><cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="How is DODO unique" comment="subhead" text="How is DODO unique"><span data-til="noop">How is DODO unique</span></cmsannotation><br />On paper, DODO is just another DEx. But as mentioned above, the PMM is what differentiates this project from fellow DEXs like Uniswap. But to understand the difference between PMMs and AMMs, we first need to know how liquidity works in crypto trades.<br /><br />When you’re trading particular crypto on an exchange, centralised or decentralised, the only way the trade can go through is if there’s a buyer on the other end. On a centralised exchange, the company can provide liquidity through certain partnerships and more. However, DEXs are driven by smart contracts instead of companies.<br /><br />This means that when you’re trading on a DEX, let’s say Ether for USDT, the platform needs an ETH-USDT liquidity pool. DEXs achieve this by allowing anyone to provide liquidity, and smart contracts define when liquidity can come into play. On regular DEXs, these smart contracts are called AMMs. <br /><br />So, AMMs go about the process of market making by pooling in two crypto-assets, and the trade price is determined by how much liquidity is available on that pool. In turn, this means that the price you expected when you initiated a trade could be lower when the trade goes through — a phenomenon that is known as slippage. In traditional stock trading terms, this will be akin to the price of a stock or asset changing in the time it takes your broker to execute the trade.<br /><br />PMMs try to mitigate this concern by attempting to proactively adjust the parameters of a trade as it happens. Basically, it is capable of taking into account the available liquidity in real-time and adjusting the relevant parameters of trade to avoid slippage. They do so by creating liquidity pools nearer to the market price than AMMs.<br /><br />The DODO project claims that its PMMs can even be adjusted to take into account external price oracles to avoid impermanent loss, which is a phenomenon that affects liquidity providers when the price of an asset changes between the time it is deposited to provide liquidity and when it’s withdrawn.<br /><cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Tokenomics" comment="subhead" text="Tokenomics"><span data-til="noop">Tokenomics</span></cmsannotation><br />The vDODO token, which is the native <keyword id="6357017" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="cryptocurrency" source="Orion">cryptocurrency</keyword> of the DODO project, has three categories — traders, liquidity pool creators (LPCs), and liquidity providers (LPs). The tokens have three functions — governance, crowd pooling and initial dex offering (IDO) allocations, and trading fee discounts on DODO.<br /><br />The vDODO token is used to serve as proof of membership in DODO’s loyalty program and can be minted at a fixed rate of 1 vDODO being equal to 100 DODO. When you deposit fiat currency — whether its the US dollar or the Indian rupee — in order to buy crypto, that crypto is also held in the exchange’s centralised wallet, till you decide to liquidate the crypto and withdraw the money back into your regular bank account.<br /><br />Crypto wallets have two keys, a public and private keys. Public keys are shared with anyone who wants to send you cryptocurrency, while a private key is what you use to access your own wallet. In a centralised exchange, when you want to sell crypto, the exchange goes and finds another person who wants to buy your crypto. It facilitates this transaction and if you want to withdraw your crypto, you will essentially have to ask the exchange to sign a transaction on your behalf.<br /><br /><cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Onto DEX…" comment="subhead" text="Onto DEX…"><span data-til="noop">Onto DEX…</span></cmsannotation><br />If you understood what a centralised exchange is, you can probably guess what a DEX is now. The primary difference, of course, is in the fact that you have access to the private key for your own crypto wallet. You’re not dependent on a central entity to hold your cryptocurrency.<br /><br />In some decentralised exchanges, the entire process of buying and selling is performed ‘on chain’ — it is completely transparent. You do not have to depend on a third party to facilitate the transaction, which may potentially charge you extra transaction fees on every trade. In addition, users retain access to their wallets and hence retain control of their own crypto holdings.<br /><br />In essence, a DEX is basically a bunch of crypto wallets that are trading with each other. Which leads us to the third big advantage — privacy. Unlike centralized exchanges, a DEX doesn’t necessarily require the user to go through the know your customer (KYC) process, meaning you do not hand over your documents to any one entity, and thereby risk giving access to others if that entity is hacked.<br /><br />However, KYC documents are also essential in the financial system, because they allow governments and authorities to track the flow of money. The idea is simple, the AMM is essentially an automated order book that facilitates liquidity on the exchange. Uniswap was the first DEX with an AMM to emerge back in 2018. <br /><br />A centralised exchange doesn’t just find buyers for you, it also works with large traders to ensure that there’s enough liquidity on the exchange and you can sell your crypto virtually whenever you want. Liquidity means there’s enough supply for available demand. If liquidity is low it will be difficult for you to sell crypto, and vice versa.<br /><br />AMMs look to solve the liquidity problem without depending on large traders using smart contracts — self-executing computer programs that ensure liquidity on the exchange. But the benefits of having an AMM in play don’t stop with liquidity. Eliminating the middle-man also means that the transaction fees won’t change while a transaction is happening.<br /><br />The AMM algorithms have pre-defined requirements for an entity or individual to become a liquidity provider. <ul class="summary-list"><li>Weddings conducted in video games aren't legal, and they're likely not legit in the <keyword id="11121339" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="metaverse" source="Orion">metaverse</keyword> either.</li><li>Couples that want a metaverse ceremony would need to pair it with a real-life ceremony.</li></ul><p>Tying the knot in a video game <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/27/tech/animal-crossing-wedding-half-life-alyx-school/index.html">doesn't constitute a legal marriage.</a></p><p>And (sorry for all you metaverse optimists) that likely applies to <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/metaverse-zuckerberg-facebook-virtual-world-leave-people-behind-2021-12">the new virtual landscape touted by Mark Zuckerberg and other tech scions.</a></p><p>There's a key reason why: people have to appear as their real-life selves during a legal wedding ceremony, not as digital avatars or anything that "distorts their appearance," according to <a href="https://theamm.org/articles/975-can-you-legally-marry-someone-in-a-video-game">American Marriage Ministries (AMM), </a>an internet church that has been ordaining people to officiate weddings since 2009. </p><p>"The laws have not caught up to the world in which we live, meaning that I don't believe that [a metaverse wedding] would be legal, and it would just be a ceremony," <a href="https://ceremoniesbylori.com/about-1">Lori Prashker-Thomas</a>, a professional wedding officiant of 10 years, told Insider.</p><p>That's how a<a href="https://www.insider.com/wedding-ceremony-metaverse-virtual-chapel-avatars-livestream-2021-12"> couple who recently wed in the metaverse saw it.</a> Their ceremony coincided with in-person (and legal) nuptials in September.</p><p>But as the <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/12/08/fashion/metaverse-virtual-wedding.html">New York Times</a> noted, the nonlegal virtual wedding allowed the couple to host the ceremony from anywhere in the world, build a limitless guest list, and also allowed sick relatives and friends to attend.</p><p>While the metaverse and any potential martial laws within it are far from materializing, the same guidelines that govern the legality of online, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/zoom-weddings-during-coronavirus-photos-2020-4">Zoom</a>, and in-game weddings could also apply to it.</p><p>Marital laws differ by state or county, meaning there are no sweeping federal guardrails to getting married online. You could risk invalidating your <keyword id="11905352" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="marriage" source="Orion">marriage</keyword> if you conduct a ceremony outside of those confines, <a href="https://theamm.org/articles/270-online-skype-weddings-probably-aren-t-legal-an-expert-explains-how-coronavirus-c">AMM</a> says.</p><p>Most states don't even allow a wedding officiant to remotely marry a couple via video conferencing technology, which is different from simply live-streaming a wedding, <a href="https://www.insider.com/virtual-wedding-planning-coronavirus-pandemic-2020-8">a practice that has grown common during the pandemic.</a> </p><p>The only <a href="https://www.utahcounty.gov/dept/clerkaud/PassMarr/WebCeremonyFAQ.asp">local government that currently allows that is Utah County, not the state of Utah at large.</a> No state allows couples to get married while they're both in separate locations.</p><p>Some states, like New York, allowed a remote officiant to Skype in and marry folks during the pandemic when it was difficult to wed at City Hall amid social distancing protocols and lockdown orders. <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/07/16/nyregion/legal-virtual-weddings-marriages.html">But it stopped allowing </a>such weddings in June.</p><p>And at the start of the pandemic, some couples whose wedding plans were dashed resorted to other means — like one that got married in Animal Crossing, a popular video game. <a href="https://www.insider.com/animal-crossing-wedding-coronavirus-social-distancing-2020-3">The wedding, however, wasn't legal.</a></p><p>The rules of the metaverse are still hazy, and experts previously told Insider that many of the real world and social media's problems, like sexual harassment, misinformation, and divisiveness, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/facebook-meta-metaverse-splinter-reality-more-2021-11">will amplify within the virtual landscape.</a> </p><p>But, following in video game fanatics' footsteps, this is likely not the last (non-legal) metaverse wedding we'll see.</p>

No, you can't legally get married in the metaverse — at least not yet

Hundreds of acres of forestland in <keyword id="58912" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="mayurbhanj" source="Orion">Mayurbhanj</keyword> district of Odisha are safe today, thanks to the Jungle Raksha Bandhan Utsav organised annually by the tribal communities here. As part of the festival, they tie rakhis to the trees with a promise to protect them from felling and forest fires<br /><br />In the summer season, people actively participate in clearing dried branches and dead trees from as many as 750 village forests in 21 blocks of the district. They repeat the process every three or four days to keep forest fires at bay.<br /><br />"Be it celebrations or funerals, we need forest produce. However, we did not understand its importance until about three decades ago. At that time, timber mafias from West Bengal and Jharkhand ruled the roost here," said Mohan Murmu (50), a village committee member of <keyword id="15055293" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="hatimada" source="Orion">Hatimada</keyword> in Suliapada block.<br /><br />According to him, the situation became so dire that they had to travel about 10km to access basic forest produce. Food scarcity was acute, forcing villagers to migrate to <keyword id="6354925" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="kolkata" source="Orion">Kolkata</keyword> and Midnapur in West Bengal.<br /><br />In those tumultuous days of 1992, some tribal families in Hatimada understood the importance of their village forest and formed several groups with around 10 people in each to offer full-time forest protection. This way, they managed to save 150 acres of forestland!<br /><br />Hatimada again set an example in 2004, when the tribal communities launched a unique tradition of tying rakhis to trees. Soon, the entire district followed suit.<br /><br />On the eve of the ritual, the priests officially invite the villagers, decked in traditional attire, to the celebrations<br />Every year, preparations begin with a community meeting before Rakhi Purnima, presided by the Majhihadam or the Santhal head priest of Sajanti village, and Dehuri Nayak, another priest. A decision is made on budget allocation and other festival-related matters. In addition, rules to ensure forest protection and procure minor produce are laid out.<br /><br />On the eve of parvan (ritual), the Majhihadam and Dehuri Nayak officially invite the villagers for the celebrations. Men and women join the parvan in traditional attires, and dance to the tune of madal and dhamsa.<br /><br />The Nayak takes mango leaf, sal leaf, honey, ghata, kalasi, jhuna and deepa to the forest and begins the rituals. As per the tribal tradition, the priest ends the prayer with a chant in Santhali language: "Johar bo goshain maranburu tehenja dinre ne tobe alele banga amkana ar amm sala tapal segei le dahayada abad dinge nankage amho alia dukh bujhani aleha amle rakhami" (Oh universe, today, on this auspicious day, we offer you prayers unitedly and commit to taking care of you. Please take care of us and bear all of our sorrows. Give us health, food and rain.)<br /><cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="The long road to protection" comment="subhead" text="The long road to protection"><span data-til="noop">The long road to protection</span></cmsannotation><br /><br />Even though forest protection began in 1992, the road was not easy or safe for the villagers.<br /><br />"Timber mafias threatened us several times, but we did not give up on our forests," said Rebati Hansda of Hatimada. As a result, the situation improved in a few years' time. The sal trees started to grow again, and the canal near the village had water even in the dry months (April to June). It also helped irrigate the nearby lands in the kharif season.<br /><br />"Mayurbhanj is famous for the Similipal Biosphere Reserve. In 2004, we learnt the locals were protecting village forests, but not in a systematic way. The participation of women was also very low," said Bibekananda Pramanik, honorary wildlife warden, Mayurbhanj.<br /><br />The villagers and the forest department did not share a good relationship then. "Introducing a joint forest management programme was a difficult task. But after a series of meetings, it was decided that at least one man and woman would join the protection committees."<br /><br />"The forests were geographically demarcated into clusters and villages close to a cluster became a part of that cluster. The protection committees gradually evolved into management committees that laid down the rules for accessing forest produce," he said.<br /><cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="A green paradise" comment="subhead" text="A green paradise"><span data-til="noop">A green paradise</span></cmsannotation><br /><br />Once a barren land, Hatimada is now known for its green cover. This became possible by the consistent efforts of 170 Santhal families residing here. Panmani Hembram, a local, said the families depend on forest produce for sustenance, be it the leaves of mahua, sal and tendu, or turmeric and mushrooms.<br /><br />"Santhals neither celebrate Raksha Bandhan nor have guardian deities. Our sacred land is the forest, and our Gods are animals and trees. We call this land jahira, where no one can enter," Hembram explained.<br /><br />According to Hatimada's Dehuri Nayak Khelaram Murmu, all tribals follow the decisions made by the village committee as laws. "In 2004, SPARDA, a local NGO, first came forward with the suggestion of tying rakhi to trees, but we refused. Later, we realised that it was like a sacred bond of promise to protect the forest. We then took it up wholeheartedly."<br /><br />Neighbouring villages of Kankani, Dandiadiha, Kalajhori, Keutunimari and Santungadua have adopted the practice since then. "Multiple village forests have come together to form a mahasangha, through which we appeal to the government regarding land rights under the Forest Rights Act (<keyword id="6388383" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="fra" source="Orion">FRA</keyword>), 2006, and other associated rights," Murmu said, adding that 38 people have received lands in the village under the FRA.<br /><br />Thanks to the extensive conservation efforts, Mayurbhanj district now has the distinction of accessing maximum forestland pattas/individual rights under the FRA, says Dr <keyword id="1476370" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="sweta-mishra" source="Orion">Sweta Mishra</keyword>, a researcher on the FRA and tribal livelihoods.<br /><br />"So far, 52,820 people have received forest land pattas or individual rights over land under the FRA. About 69,023 people have submitted land rights claims under the FRA, of which 65,014 are tribals," she added.<br /><br />The district committee has approved land pattas for 53,035 people, under which 14,288.15 hectares have been allotted, Mishra said. In addition, 717 gram sabhas have been given both community rights and community forest resource rights under the FRA, by which 1,51,413 hectares of land has been assigned.<br /><br />These rights allow gram sabhas to manage their own forests and gather forest produce. <ul class="summary-list"><li><keyword id="11892748" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="china" source="Orion">China</keyword>'s <keyword id="11893898" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="crypto" source="Orion">crypto</keyword> ban last week has sent traders flocking to decentralized exchanges.</li><li id="recirc">These peer-to-peer platforms allow parties to trade without any intermediary, even a clearing house.</li><li>We take a look at how these exchanges work and which coins are the "DEX" big guns.</li></ul><p>The crypto market bounced back on Monday from the slump caused late last week by China's outright ban on trading and mining. But it's not been the major cryptocurrencies that have seen most of the action, or even some of the recent red-hot "altcoins", but rather, <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/currencies/crypto-uniswap-sushi-china-selloff-decentralized-exchange-tokens-ether-2021-9">decentralized exchange (DEX) tokens</a>. </p><p>Decentralized exchanges don't rely on any intermediaries, as a standard centralized exchange would. There are no banks or brokers, or even <a href="https://www.investopedia.com/terms/c/clearinghouse.asp">clearing houses</a> involved, but rather, they offer a peer-to-peer platform where the parties involved use smart contracts to execute their trades. </p><p>These contracts are mini-programs that run on a blockchain that will automatically execute once a set of conditions are met. A number of decentralized exchanges are built on the ethereum network - the largest such blockchain that hosts smart contacts, decentralized finance applications and other protocols. </p><p>They are often cheaper to use than centralized exchanges, like Binance or Coinbase, and mean users are completely in charge of managing their wallets and private keys, which allow them access to their crypto tokens. </p><p>The three biggest decentralized exchanges by volume are <keyword id="12019780" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="uniswap" source="Orion">Uniswap</keyword>, SushiSwap and derivatives exchange DxDy. </p><p>"Decentralized exchanges Uniswap and Sushiswap have seen a surge in usage, which is likely a result of China's ban on centralised exchanges. Since DEX's only require a crypto wallet and no KYC [know your customer], it is much easier to use and can be set up in a matter of minutes," Jonas Luethy, junior sales trader at digital asset manager Global Block, said in a newsletter. </p><p>There are basically three different ways a DEX will function.</p><p>The first is with what's known as an on-chain order book that lists all buy and sell orders sorted by price. In this case, every part of the transaction is written onto the blockchain. That includes not just purchases and sales, but even requests to buy or sell. So all the information is stored safely in one place, but this process can be costly and slower.</p><p>Off-chain order books only record the final settled transaction on the blockchain, without storing orders or any other information. It's faster, but a little less secure than on-chain.</p><p>Lastly, there are automated market makers (AMM) that use what are known as liquidity pools. The pool is essentially made up of a big enough reserve of tokens, or pairs of tokens. </p><p>A user will just place the tokens they wish to sell or buy in the pool and one smart contract will complete their transaction. This method makes it much easier to swap from one cryptocurrency to another than with an order book, for example.</p><p>Here are the top 3 DEX tokens to watch out for: </p><ol><li>Uniswap is the biggest token, with a market capitalization of over $14 billion. The token surged by almost 40% at one point on Monday. It's up around 360% so far this year at around $23.40. </li><li>Sushi is the second biggest token, with a market cap of over $1 billion. Its token, which has risen around 270% this year to $10.70, rallied by nearly 30% earlier on Monday.</li><li>DYDX gained by as much as 31% Monday. The underlying exchange has seen a massive influx of new users plus, and for the first time, has registered higher trading volumes than Coinbase, according to GlobalBlock. The dydx token launched around a month ago and has already roughly doubled in value to around $20.00. </li></ol>

She was 91.<p>According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sullivan's retirement community, the Woodland Hills-based campus of the Motion Picture and Television Fund (MPTF), confirmed the news of her death. </p><p>Sullivan is the third member of the industry retirement home to die as a result of COVID-19.</p><p>At MPTF, the animator was nicknamed "Giggles" by staff, with chaplain Dina Kuperstock saying in a statement, "She had the best laugh of any person I've ever known. Ann didn't just laugh with a sound. When she giggled, her whole body would shake and light up with joy, and it was contagious for everyone in the room."</p><p>Originally from North Dakota's Fargo, Sullivan matriculated at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena - the alma mater of Zack Snyder and Michael Bay, among other famous alums.</p><p>After graduation in the 1950s, she started working as a member of the animation paint lab at The Walt Disney Company.</p><p>Sullivan left her job to raise four children, but she re-entered the business in 1973, when she started at Filmnation and Hanna Barbera. </p><p>The animator later returned to Disney, landing credits on studio titles from the late-1980s to the mid-2000s. Sullivan worked in the paint lab on 1988's "Oliver &amp; Company", 1989's "The Little Mermaid", 1991's "Rover Dangerfield" and 1992's "Cool World". </p><p>She painted for the 1990 short "The Prince and the Pauper"; 1994's "The Lion King"; 1995's "Pocahontas"; 1997's "Hercules"; 1999's "Tarzan" and "Fantasia 2000"; 2000's "The Emperor's New Groove"; and 2002's "Lilo &amp; Stitch and Treasure Planet". </p><p>Sullivan also is credited for having worked as a cel painter on 1994's "The Pagemaster" and for performing additional caps and painting on 2004's "Home on the Range".</p>She is survived by four children, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Each shoe uses an average of 11 plastic bottles per pair and incorporates recycled plastic into the shoe's laces, heel webbing, heel lining, and sock liner covers.</p><p>"The new additions to the adidas x Parley collection are another step in our journey to creating one million pairs of Ultraboost from up-cycled marine plastic," Mathias Amm, a product category director at Adidas, <a href="http://news.adidas.com/US/Latest-News/ALL/adidas-introduces-parley-editions-of-game-changing-running-footwear/s/c1722809-0c26-40bc-8393-8d664701d326">said in a statement</a>.</p><p>Adidas <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/adidas-shoe-from-plastic-ocean-waste-2016-11">previously released</a> an ocean plastic waste sneaker, but it was a limited release and more of a proof of concept. These new Boost sneakers are a step forward as Adidas seeks to use more sustainable materials moving forward in its regular offerings.</p><p>Adidas reiterated its commitment to green materials in its recently released sustainability report, which highlighted that the company is on track to use 100% sustainable cotton by next year. They include:</h3><ul><li>Queen Alia International Airport (AMM) in Amman, Jordan.</li><li>Cairo International Airport (CAI) in Cairo, Egypt.</li><li>Ataturk International Airport (IST) in Istanbul, Turkey.</li><li>King Abdul-Aziz International Airport (JED) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.</li><li>King Khalid International Airport (RUH) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.</li><li>Kuwait International Airport (KWI) near Kuwait City, Kuwait.</li><li>Mohammed V Airport (CMN) in Casablanca, Morocco.</li><li>Hamad International Airport (DOH) in Doha, Qatar.</li><li>Dubai International Airport (DXB) in Dubai, UAE</li><li>Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) in Abu Dhabi, UAE.</li></ul><h3>Airlines affected by the ban include:</h3><ul><li>Royal Jordanian Airlines</li><li>EgyptAir</li><li>Turkish Airlines</li><li>Saudia</li><li>Kuwait Airways</li><li>Royal Air Maroc</li><li>Qatar Airways</li><li>Etihad Airways</li><li>Emirates</li></ul><p>According to the senior administration officials on the call, the ban will only affect non-stop flights to the US originating from these airports - which equates to roughly 50 flights per day. Passengers connecting through another destination such as an airport in Europe will not be subject to the ban. However, passengers connecting through the affected airports for non-stop flights to the US are advised to place their large electronic devices in checked luggage at their point of origination.</p><p>No US-based airlines will be directly affected by the ban, as none currently offer non-stop service to these Middle Eastern destinations.</p><p>In addition, airlines will have up to 96 hours, beginning Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m. EDT, to comply with the new policy. "If they fail to comply with the security directive and emergency amendment, we will work with the Federal Aviation Administration to pull their (operating) certificates and they will not be allowed to fly to the United States," an administration official said on the call.</p><p>Administration officials denied claims the new policy is related to the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/trump-wont-weigh-in-on-open-skies-fight-with-emirates-eithad-qatar-2017-3" target="_blank">dispute between American, Delta, and United Airlines and their Middle-Eastern rivals from Qatar and the UAE</a> over allegations of unfair government subsidies.</p><p>The DHS cites the attempted downing of <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2016/02/11/africa/somalia-plane-bomb/" target="_blank">Daallo Airlines Flight 159</a> in February 2016 in which a terrorist managed to sneak a "sophisticated laptop bomb" past x-ray scanners in Somalia as an example of the threat the directive is attempting to counteract. Etihad said that it was still sorting through the issue internally and was unable to offer details.
