As per the report, all you need to do is enter the phone number of a person who has received the Covid-19 vaccine on a Telegram bot and it will fetch important details about the user. This, as per the report, has put important data such as Aadhaar, PAN, voter ID and passport of thousands of users at risk. It is reported that one such API has a feature of sharing the data by calling using just a mobile number of Aadhaar. According to the company, the data is from a 2022 leak wherein a Russian cybercrime forum offered compromised access to the CoWIN platform for the Tamil Nadu region. Cyber security group’s AI analysis supports theory that CoWIN data leak not new

In response, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) said, on Thursday night, that the reports about the leak are fake. The ministry also claimed that all the collected data from the platform is stored in a "safe and secure digital environment" and was not shared with third parties. The ministry has released a <a href="https://pib.gov.in/PressReleaseIframePage.aspx?PRID=1726112">statement</a> in response to the alleged <keyword id="6360618" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="data-leak">data leak</keyword> of 150 million people vaccinated for Covid-19. Indian government claims vaccinated citizens' personal data 'safe and secure'; cybersecurity experts call 'data leak' a Bitcoin scam

The latest data breach involves COVID vaccination data of the Indian government. The Ministry of Health downplayed the breach but ordered CERT-In to probe how CoWIN portal data ended up on Telegram. However, a significant 72% of respondents acknowledged that their "personal details were leaked or are in the public domain." On the other hand, 19% of those surveyed refrained from providing a definitive response, opting for "can't say." Furthermore, 50% stated that their PAN card numbers had been leaked, and 25% had their Voter ID numbers exposed. For a smaller percentage of respondents, multiple pieces of personal information were compromised, as revealed by the following results: 22% had their credit/debit card numbers leaked, 9% disclosed their annual income/salary, and 19% reported other details that were not specifically mentioned in the survey. It is evident from the survey results that some individuals experienced the unfortunate situation of having multiple aspects of their personal information exposed.

All these apps were found on the Google Play store, amassing nearly 6 million downloads amongst themselves. The report goes on to add that Google had only removed some of these apps from the Play store, as of July 1, 2021, when the report went live. PIP Photo app was the most downloaded among these apps, with 5 million downloads of its own. How did these apps steal Facebook passwords? All the apps mentioned in the report offered real features, causing the unsuspecting users to trust them. They even allowed users to unlock more features and disable in-app advertisements by logging into their Facebook accounts. These apps exploited the widespread use of Google and Facebook login – something that is offered by many apps and games – to steal passwords of unsuspecting users. The research firm describes the exploit mechanism below: “After receiving the necessary settings from one of the C&amp;C servers upon launch, they loaded the legitimate Facebook web page https://www.facebook.com/login.php into WebView. Next, they loaded JavaScript received from the C&amp;C server into the same WebView. This script was directly used to hijack the entered login credentials. After that, this JavaScript, using the methods provided through the JavascriptInterface annotation, passed the stolen login and password to the trojan applications, which then transferred the data to the attackers’ C&amp;C server. After the victim logged into their account, the trojans also stole cookies from the current authorization session. According to the official, the flight was uneventful till approach to land at Delhi, however, during approach on runway 27, the crew felt that they floated longer than normal and initiated a go around, the DGCA official said. During the go-around maneuver, the bottom of the tail portion of the aircraft touched the runway surface and sustained damages, according to the official, who added that the operating crew has been off-rostered pending investigation. IndiGo in its statement said that its flight 6E-6183 operating from Kolkata to Delhi had experienced a tail strike during landing in Delhi. The airline, however, did not share how many passengers were on board the mishap-hit aircraft. The aircraft was declared grounded at Delhi for necessary assessment and repairs, it said, adding that the incident is under investigation by relevant authorities.
