Sahil Sheth, founder and chief executive (CEO) of Lido Learning, in a press note added, “We’re going to use this new round of capital to ensure that our classes are accessible to students from every corner of India as well as the world. We’re going to double down on our efforts to connect students with...teaching talent.” Founded in 2019, Lido Learning offers small-group online tutoring classes in math, science, coding and English. The company focuses on the K12 segment, for students in kindergarten to 12th grade. Ronnie Screwvala’s investment firm leads $10 million round in Lido Learning

In a nightmare for more than 150 employees, homegrown edtech startup <keyword id="8430727" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="lido-learning" source="Orion">Lido Learning</keyword> which is backed by top entrepreneur <keyword id="25725" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ronnie-screwvala" source="Orion">Ronnie Screwvala</keyword>, has apparently shut operations, forcing its workforce to seek help via social media platforms. Several vendors and employees of Lido Learning took to social media and professional networking platforms, complaining about delayed payments and no salaries for nearly two months. "My 1st worst experience in the edtech industry. The company closed its business suddenly in the morning, 2 days before salary day without giving any notice to anyone. It is no other than LIDO," Rishabh Kumar, assistant marketing manager at Lido Learning, posted on LinkedIn. "Everything was going well and suddenly on February 4, 2022, an official town hall was announced in the morning. The founder announced that the organisation is having no funds to run its business and they are shutting it down," Kumar posted. According to employees, Lido Learning's Founder Sahil Sheth addressed the town hall meeting, informing them that the startup is going through financial constraints. Another former Lido employee who quit in November posted on LinkedIn that he was still unpaid despite several attempts. An industry source told IANS that Lido Learning has shut operations and has sent email notices to its employees. The startup was yet to make an official announcement on shutting its operations. "What happens to the 40k to 80k paid by parents to #LidoLearning - whatever little they collected, should be returned back as they shut shop right or all of that money goes down the drain for parents? Am sure then they will drag Lido to court and rightly so!" Akshay Shah - Founder CEO, iWeb, posted on Twitter. In September last year, Lido Learning announced it had raised $10 million, led by Ronnie Screwvala's Unilazer Ventures. Lido Learning had said it will use the money to fuel its expansion plans in India as well as expand its global footprint. The startup has raised nearly $24 million to date. In a LinkedIn post, Nitish Banka, who is a Supreme Court lawyer, sought fair treatment for teachers/students and employees at Lido Learning. "I have been informed that the employees and teachers who have put in hard-earned efforts into running this startup LIDO Learning are not getting paid due to the startup facing funding issues," he posted. "I want the startup to treat all their employees, students and teachers or face legal action," he added. The startup told teachers in an email that it "was facing financial difficulties" and is committed to "pay your dues, as mentioned in your service agreement, in the next 90 days". Founded in 2019, Lido Learning provides small-group online tutoring to kindergarten to grade 12 students. It offers classes in maths, science, coding and English. Ronnie Screwvala-backed edtech startup Lido Learning shuts shop, employees cry on social media

And, the coronavirus ‘pandemic’ could prevent an additional 180 million children from attending school. Given the uncertainty, edtech platforms like Coursera, Byju’s, Vedantu and Toppr have rolled out several initiatives to facilitate learning for the impacted students. Coursera, Internshala and Byju’s announce free access to their platforms Starting today, Coursera will provide free access to the course catalogue to the impacted universities. “Universities can sign up to provide their enrolled students with access to more than 3,800 courses and 400 specializations from Coursera’s top university and industry partners. These institutions will have access until July 31, 2020, after which we plan to provide month-to-month extensions depending on prevailing risk assessments. Students who enroll on or before July 31 will continue to have access until Sept. 30, 2020,” said Jeff Maggioncalda, CEO Coursera. Byju’s lets learners from classes 1-12, to download and access the learning programs for free until the end of April. This will allow the early learners to access mathematics and english lessons, while students across 4-12 grade can learn mathematics and science. Internshala too announced free access to its online training until March 31 for students in Kerala, Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. “The students can learn programming, data science, business, design, creative writing and more via short term training programmes,” Internshala said. "Schools should assess their options for educating remotely by resorting to online learning. Preparedness and proper precautionary measures are the only ways to tackle the ongoing coronavirus outbreak,” said Amol Arora, Vice Chairman &amp; MD, Shemford Group of Futuristic Schools. Free live sessions and collaborating with schools <keyword id="6630114" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="unacademy">Unacademy</keyword> is conducting 20,000 <keyword id="8901026" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="free-live-classes">free live classes</keyword> on its platform amidst the outbreak. These sessions will be conducted on topics ranging from UPSC exams to banking, railways recruitment. “We are bringing together our entire network of educators to conduct free live classes for learners across the nation to help them crack their goals unobstructed. We want learners to utilise this time to take precautions against the Coronavirus outbreak and learn from the comfort of their homes,” Gaurav Munjal, Co-Founder and CEO, Unacademy said. Vedantu, a live learning platform, has also joined hands with schools in Bengaluru, Delhi and Kerala to provide classes. With this, Vedantu will provide the schools and their teachers a platform to teach students via live sessions, using their own content. Alternatively, they can also opt for end-to-end online tutorial through the platform. On the other hand, Toppr is offering free live classes to the students. "In view of the evolving situation around coronavirus outbreak and given that some schools are shut and studies interrupted, we are making Topper's live classes completely free for all students in 5th-12th classes. Besides this, our video classes have always been available as a free learning resource," said Zishaan Hayath, CEO and co-founder of Toppr. Other edtech platforms like Lido Learning are also urging students to go for online tutorials as it can impact the students’ academic growth during the exams. Parents, while at home, still have to work. Going off to school or hanging out with friends, on the other hand, is no more an option. To help manage the crisis, a few companies are coming to the rescue. You can kick things off by diving into the comical universe of <keyword id="1932114" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kalia-the-Crow">Kalia the crow</keyword>, Shikari Sambu, and <keyword id="774990" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Suppandi">Suppandi</keyword>.  The legacy of Tinkle In a time when the comicverse is dominated with Marvel’s Avengers and DC’s Batman chronicles, it’s easy to overlook the simpler times like <keyword id="54080" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tinkle-Comics">Tinkle Comics</keyword> were the only option on the market.

 However, the dawn of technology means that you can now dive into the Tinkle universe using your phone. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the adventures of the comic’s iconic characters, the first thing you need to know is that they’re not superheroes — but they’re not without their powers. Kalia the crow is a clever bird that roams the forest with his animal friends to bail them out of trouble. He was the first character created for the Tinkle series when the comic books launched on 14 November 1980 — Children’s Day.  A few issues later, Suppandi was introduced in January 1983. Adapted from Chapando — a folk Tamil character — his stories have been written by countless different writers.  Shikari Shambu is different from Kalia and Suppandi. Even though he was introduced early on — 10 issues after Suppandi — Shambu was initially a cowardly, but famous, hunter. However, over the years the character gave up his hunting ways and transformed into an animal conservationist. His power is the ability to adapt and be an example of how change is possible.

 Work up a sweat While comics may work to keep kids entertained indoors, it doesn’t involve a lot of movement. Even the parks and playgrounds are shut leaving kids with no way to burn off that excess energy that was normally used during classes. Kaif claims that her 20-minute workout is a good go-to to keep endorphins up at a time when anxiety is high and it builds up immunity. The audio on the stream isn’t the best, so you should probably sync up your own playlist to make sure you and your kid stay pumped. Shetty, known for her workout videos and emphasis on yoga, has also released a work out video for those stuck in self-isolation. She encourages people to work out at least four times a week to keep up their immunity. Aside from working out and reading comics, a bunch of education apps like BYJU’S, Vedantu, Toppr and Lido Learning are offering select online courses for free.
