It has the same massive size and is composed mostly of gas. Although, unlike Jupiter, Santamasa is the only planet circling the parent star. It’s also much closer to its star than Jupiter is to the Sun — which makes it hot enough to melt iron and gold. A star on the edge of the Solar System just got a Bengali name

<ul><li>The <keyword id="2024638" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Astronomical-Society-of-India">Astronomical Society of India</keyword> is going to give a lonely exoplanet and its star a Bengali or Sanskrit name. </li><li>Finding a name for the planet is a part of the <keyword id="1198270" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="International-Astronomical-Union">International Astronomical Union</keyword>’s (IAU) Name Exoplanets campaign. </li><li>Voting is currently open to the public and will close on 1 November 2019. The final results will be announced in December. </li></ul>Exoplanets are planets located outside our solar system. One such lonely planet and the star it orbits is currently in the process of getting a Bengali or Sanskrit name from the Astronomical Society of India (<a href="https://astron-soc.in/outreach/activities/name-exoworlds/">ASI</a>). The star HD86081 — which is a lot like Earth’s Sun only hotter, larger and a little older — has one Bengali name and four Sanskrit names in the running.

 The Jupiter-like exoplanet that orbits the star also has one Bengali option and four Sanskrit names up for voting.  Unlike Jupiter, <a href="https://exoplanets.nasa.gov/exoplanet-catalog/6691/hd-86081-b/">H86081 b</a> is the only planet circling the parent star. It’s also much closer to the star and much hotter. So hot, in fact, that iron and gold would melt on its surface. And, since it’s closer, it only takes 2 Earth days for it to finish a complete orbit around the star. This means that one year on H86081 b is only the length of two days on Earth. Narrowing down the names Students were invited by the organisation to submit their suggestions as a part of the International Astronomical Union’s (IAU) campaign — <a href="https://astron-soc.in/outreach/activities/name-exoworlds/">NameExoworlds</a> — to name the astronomical objects currently classified as the star HD 86081 and the exoplanet HD86081. The deadline was extended for 15 August 2019 to 30 August 2019 because the names being sent in were mostly in English or Greek and the ASI was looking for an ‘Indian name’. From the thousands of entries that came in, five names were shortlisted for each of them. The options were opened to the public for voting on 10 October 2019. Voting will remain open till 1 November 2019, after which the final list of names will be sent to the IAU. The final results will be announced by the international organisation in December.

One movie, every week According to a FICCI-EY <a href="https://www.financialexpress.com/brandwagon/regional-ott-on-the-rise-as-subscribers-choose-native-language-over-hindi/2272860/">report</a>, the share of regional language consumption on OTT platforms will cross 50% by 2025 from the 30% share it held in 2019. As per FICCI-EY though, regional consumption is expected to surpass Hindi, which is predicted to touch a 45% consumption rate. But a few players are confident that it has already hit this number. “The regional OTT market today probably is 50% already of the total OTT market size in India, including all regional languages. It is set to grow faster than Hindi for sure,” Ajit Thakur, CEO of Telugu and Tamil OTT platform aha told Business Insider India. The OTT, which is adding one movie every week, has touched 10 million monthly active users (Maus) in two years. Its app saw 30 million downloads. It has also generated $2 million in non-subscription <a href="https://www.afaqs.com/news/media/telugu-ott-platform-aha-to-rely-on-avod-to-break-even">revenue </a>in the last six months and is considering adding gaming onto its platform and becoming a super app. Aha also intends to target Tamil-speaking viewers as well after winning the hearts of the people who speak the fourth most spoken <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/world-45902204">language </a>in India and also one of the top 10 fastest-growing <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/world-45902204">languages </a>in America. The magic price point Apart from the content, the price points of these OTTs are attractive too — as it’s akin to subscribing for a regional TV channel pack as opposed to the full range with all genres and offerings across languages – like Netflix, Prime, Disney Hotstar or even Zee. Hoichoi however has ‘eased’ its subscription with a syndication deal with mainstream OTT players such as MX Player and Amazon Prime. Hoichoi, one of the earliest regional OTT platforms to launch in India, is trying to capture the 250 million Bengali speakers across the world. “The generic OTT market has grown at least 30-50% over the year and we've all outpaced that industry by a fair margin. We've got about 120 odd shows, in addition to about 600-700 movies. In fact, April, May and June were bigger than COVID months for us,” Vishnu Mohta, co-founder of the Bengali streaming platform told Business Insider India. Its extensive content library remains unmatched in the OTT universe. In the meanwhile, top OTTs haven’t been ignoring these viewers either. In fact most of them release regional movies and shows with audio and subtitle options – thereby ‘extending’ the reach of regional content to non-regional players as well. The best example in this list is the recently launched Modern Love Hyderabad which has an original Telugu show dubbed across five languages including Hindi and English, for those who want to catch the flavour of the show in their own language. In November 2018, Mark Zuckerberg got stuck in legal battles due to Cambridge Analytica and we got blocked. STAGE is our comeback,” said Shashank Vaishnav, co-founder and CTO of STAGE, told Business Insider India. Beyond languages to dialects Fast forward to 2019, STAGE shifted focus from out-of-India subscribers to Bharat. The startup claims to provide, quite literally, a ‘stage’ to local artists across India. Going beyond the regional language based OTTs that are already gaining attention, this startup claims to provide content across different dialects across Rajasthan and Haryana. “In India, there are about 50 OTT platforms uploading regional based content. Dialects don’t have their own scripts, cinema or literature as opposed to language. Haryana has 11 different dialects, Bhojpuri alone spoken by 100 million people. STAGE aims to give a platform to local artists from these spaces,” said <keyword id="16058" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="singhal" source="Orion">Singhal</keyword>. Regional OTTs like Koode in Malayalam, City Short TV in Gujarati, aha in Telugu, hoichoi of Bengali and Planet Marathi are some of the regional streaming services that are popular with users within and outside India. Video viewership in India is dominated by the regional language user base. Consumers today spend about 50-60 percent of the average time on Hindi videos, followed closely by 35-43% on regional content videos with only 5-7% on English, states a <a href="https://ficci.in/events/23490/ISP/The%20Digital%20First%20journey_Web.pdf">FICCI-KPMG</a> ‘The Digital First Journey’ report. After independence, India preached the idea of one nation, one language. Languages that had their own script and culture survived while dialects, which are spoken in conversations, began getting lost, Singhal said. “Hindi grew rapidly and thus dialects began to shrink. In 1900, India had about 19,500 different spoken dialects and languages. As of today, only 700 of these remain,” he added. STAGE currently has over 5,000 artists, uploading content in dialects of Mewari, Harauti, Sikhawati, Bangaru to name a few. Indian OTTs have already hit a wall when it comes to acquiring the next set of customers. “A large share of the 20% growth in audience base has come from rural India and small towns. The metro cities have reached saturation levels, with more than 79% OTT penetration. And, it’s a growing business. As per <a href="https://ficci.in/events/23490/ISP/The%20Digital%20First%20journey_Web.pdf">FICCI-KPMG</a> report, the demand for original content was estimated to increase from 2,500 hours in 2021 to over 4,000 hours by 2024. Moreover, there is enough and more talent across the grassroots that can be easily channelized onto the OTT platform. “Standup artists from hyperlocal regions take to this craft because their real dream is to become an actor. Since the nascent industry of dialects is not making any movies, they started performing stand up to gain exposure. We have successfully created a local Bollywood in Haryana. They even refer to the industry as ‘Hariwood’. The same situation is in Rajasthan,” said Vinay Singhal. The fact that movies like Kantara in a tribal setting found viewers across India, shows that hyperlocal platforms are capable of telling compelling ‘stories of the soil’. Very literally, there are many dances like the one seen in Kantara and have not been showcased on the right platform as of now. “There are numerous local folk dances that people enjoy locally a lot. For example, in Haryana there is a live theatrical folk dance called Ragni. In Rajasthan, there is Kalbeliya dance, which is also a popular folk music performance widely witnessed in the state. We have started recording these local artists and their folk rituals and performances for STAGE,” said Parveen Singhal, chief content officer at STAGE, told Business Insider India. A cockroach born in the winter In spite of great potential, STAGE like most startups has to face the test of time that’s funding winter. But the startup itself is a survival story, and claims to be a <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/startups/article/unicorns-are-pass-cockroaches-are-the-new-favourites-of-venture-capitalists/articleshow/95734214.cms">cockroach</a> that’s tough enough to survive any adversity. “We are very frugal and our company was born in the winter so we are confident of raising and maintaining capital. But capital infusion will see improvement from April 2023 onwards because there is a lot of dry powder available in the market. Last year, the VCs raised a significant amount of capital to be deployed in startups,” Singhal said. The idea of appearing on Shark Tank India Season 2, with their episode airing on January 4, was initially dismissed by the founders as the previous season of the show only funded early stage startups. STAGE was in the process of raising their Series A funding. But it was a pleasant surprise for the startup to discover that the show now progressed from early stage to late stage funding as well. STAGE was offered ₹1.5 crore for 0.6% equity and ₹1.5 crore debt at 18% interest from Namita Thapar, Aman Gupta and <keyword id="824423" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="peyush-bansal" source="Orion">Peyush Bansal</keyword>, judges at Shark Tank India Season 2, which they accepted. “We have already started preparing our website for the kind of traffic that is expected from the reality show, which has led to 3 times growth for companies who featured last season. Even though the judges are known to ask tough questions, they understood our story and it was an emotional moment for us,” said Singhal. It was three times the size of our planet when it was first spotted 350 years ago. However, new research shows that it’s shrinking and it’s already down to the size of a single Earth.

 The clouds that surround the spot are opaque, which makes it hard to peer into what’s really going on below the top layer. To overcome that obstacle, researchers with the French National Centre of Scientific Research (<a href="http://www.cnrs.fr/en/jupiters-great-red-spot-shrinking-size-not-thickness">CNRS</a>) started to build a model. Using lab experiments, analysis and numerical simulations there were able to figure out the universal forces that kept the storm going. Their model — published in <a href="https://doi.org/10.1038/s41567-020-0833-9">Nature Physics</a> — shows that even though the storm is still just as intense as it was 350 years ago, it’s a lot smaller now.

 The 350 years of the Great Red Spot If you can imagine it, the planet itself is made up of liquids and gases. The clouds are a mix and match of jet stream creations, winds and vortices that look like parallel bands streaming through the sky. Within that haze, a little south of Jupiter’s equator, the Great Red Spot stands out on its own — and nobody really knows how it got its colour.

. The storm is probably a lot older than just 350 years but it was only spotted in for the first time in 1830 and extensive observations only began by 1879. Earth only got the first detailed view of the Great Red Spot a century later in 1979, when the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Voyager 1 spacecraft flew past the planet.

 However, a lot is still unknown to date. The new study estimates that the Great Red Spot is around 170 kilometres thick — about the same as when the Voyager 1 made its fly-by. In order to confirm their results, the estimates of the model will be compared to Juno’s observations when they come in. Jablon, who is Jewish, said his main job was to get them all to get along.Then the hospital decided to encourage people from outside the Jewish community to come through its doors, and Jablon took on the challenge. At his first stop - St. Finbar's, a Catholic church in Brooklyn with a heavily Italian-American congregation - he was met with questions like "why should I come to that Jewish hospital?" Jablon recalls.That's all changed. Maimonides is located Brooklyn's Borough Park, a neighborhood that's still home one of the largest Orthodox and Hasidic Jewish populations in the US, but also new immigrants from China and the Arab world. Our cultural backdrop affects how we talk about illness and death, and our ethnicity can make us more prone to develop diseases like diabetes or certain cancers, and the doctors at Maimonides have to think about every way they engage with new or different communities - all the way down to how they decorate.I also learned about a concept called community-based healthcare, the whole point of which is to consider a person's individual circumstances - whether you're talking about ethnicity or language barriers or poverty.New York, of course, is unique in its degree of diversity, but the lessons here will be relevant nationally one day as the US undergoes a massive demographic shift. In 50 years, the country is expected to have no majority population. One problem Maimonides encountered at its cancer center - about a mile from the main hospital - was the huge "four" painted on the wall outside an operating room."Four" in Chinese sounds similar to the word for "death," and - sort of like the number 13 in the West - it's an ominous sign. That had to go.That is low-hanging fruit, though, compared with the medical challenges doctors encountered as they treated more Chinese patients. They're seeing cancers that aren't normally common in the US and tumor sizes that are different - both of which can affect proper diagnoses."Tumors that are supposed to be rare we see frequently," Dr. Patrick Borgen, the chief of surgery at Maimonides, said.According to a 2012 <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4571797/">study of breast-cancer patients</a> from China and the US, as well as Chinese-Americans, Chinese-American patients with stage 1 cancer tended to have bigger tumors than patients from the US but smaller ones than patients in China. Women in China on average also tend to get breast cancer 13 years earlier than women in the US.And the very diagnosis is viewed differently between the two cultures. Dr. Yiqing Xu, the associate director of hematology oncology at Maimonides, said communication was especially important, as some Chinese patients, if not given prompt guidance over treatment options, would opt to fly to China to get a mastectomy, a procedure in which the whole breast is removed."They come back with horrible mastectomy down to the bones," Xu said. The procedures in China often use older techniques that remove more of the breast than American doctors would consider necessary.<h2>Building communities</h2><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/595d54baa3630ff71a8b77cc-2400/img0647.jpg" alt="IMG_0647.JPG" data-mce-source="Courtesy Maimonides" />Courtesy MaimonidesDr. Jacob Shani with a cardiac patient named Guo Ren Zhen.</div></div></div>While a hospital built for the future American population may have the added challenge of navigating different backgrounds, religions, and languages, there are some basic principles that will remain unchanged. Those in the hospital are there with a singular purpose: to get better.That removes divisions that may be prominent outside the hospital.During a group conversation of breast-cancer patients and their family members, Fatema Khatun, a Bengali woman who learned she had breast cancer in February, broke down when discussing the experience of going through treatment while losing her mother and caring for a child.The other women nodded along sympathetically and handed her tissues. "You are so strong," the sister of an Arab-American patient named Amal Omar told Khatun. "If you can face this alone, that means you are strong.""I don't know how people who don't have faith ... survive," said an Orthodox Jewish woman who declined to tell me her name because she hasn't shared her diagnosis with many people."We are a community, and we serve people who elsewhere on the planet today are killing each other literally. Here, they're not," Maimonides CEO Kenneth Gibbs told Business Insider. "I think part of that is about the moment at which we come together is those who need and those who provide healthcare. It's about that service that vulnerability and that sense of purpose that allows for humanity to emerge rather than all the things that we can find to disagree about."<h2>What others can learn</h2>When I asked what other hospitals could learn from Maimonides and its work expanding into other areas culturally, Gibbs spoke of the hospital's position as one piece of what's called a <a href="http://www.rand.org/topics/community-based-health-care.html">community-based healthcare system</a> - an approach that makes health and prevention an important conversation outside traditional healthcare settings like the doctor's office or a hospital.The hospital is there for an emergency or extreme situation, he said, and very good at handling those situations. <div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/595d5465d084cc6a298b6bd3-2400/img0653.jpg" alt="IMG_0653.JPG" data-mce-source="Courtesy Maimonides" />Courtesy MaimonidesShani and Anton Tomilson, who had a heart procedure in the morning. After a "stress test" during a primary-care visit earlier in the week, he was sent to Maimonides for the procedure.</div></div></div>But the real point of understanding diversifying communities is to do a better job of keeping people out of the hospital in the first place.That's still where the healthcare disparities happen, Chan said. That's in part because outreach to minority communities hasn't historically worked as well.Community-based healthcare, though, considers what's going on in patients' everyday life, such as whether patients have access to food or childcare. It can change the way doctors approach patients. It could lead to more preventive actions, like heart-health screenings or setting up new dietary habits because of a higher risk of diabetes.Chan said there had been a shift in the conversation toward setting up community-based healthcare systems, though hospitals have yet to do it fully.
