  • 51% respondents said they looked for clean rooms, with a nice smell, daily room service, and first aid.
  • When it came to local activities, the majority say convenience, safety and accessibility of the venue was important.
  • One in three surveyed said that they have a big interest in taking adventure holidays.
Quite surprisingly, Thailand is not among the top five foreign destinations Indians visit according to a travel report launched by Acko in collaboration with YouGov, a market research company. 1,000 travellers who intend to travel this year were interviewed for this report to understand key patterns Indians consider when travelling.

Dubai and Singapore feature in the top five as widely expected. Maldives seems to be the preferred beach destination and the Yash Chopra created charm of Switzerland hasn’t faded away.

Low ticket prices are important but…

Who does not want to get the lowest tickets when travelling? However, while 39% of respondents mentioned that lower or lowest ticket prices was a matter of consideration, 50% stressed on the comfort of travel as the top consideration. Flexibility of travel bookings and cleanliness of flights, buses and trains were also important considerations with 38% vote for each.

Clean and accessible rooms

At the end of the day, one always likes to come back to a nice clean hotel room to relax. Not surprisingly, when it comes to accommodation, 51% respondents said they looked for clean rooms, with a nice smell, daily room service, and first aid.

The convenience, safety, and accessibility of rooms was the second most important consideration with 46% voting for it. In-room amenities like TV, wi-fi, toiletries, newspapers, and other amenities (38%) and complimentary edibles like tea and breakfast (36%) are also important things travellers consider.

Convenient local activities

One in three respondents suggested that they have a big interest in taking adventure holidays. When it came to local activities, 51% said that convenience, safety and accessibility of the venue was important. 45% stressed on the cleanliness of the venue, while 39% said that quality and patience of guides is something that they would consider. Ease of booking tickets for the activity or venue was also voted as important by 36% travellers.
