In honor of its birthday and #tbt, a popular hashtag known as "Throwback Thursday," Uber brought back its favorite promotions over the years on Thursday. San Francisco-based users just had to open the app, click to request a #tbt surprise, and cross their fingers that UberKITTENS would arrive at their door in a matter of minutes.
Business Insider's Ansi Taing, who works on the sales development team in the San Francisco bureau, hit the jackpot three today by incessantly refreshing the app and trying again.
The driver was represented as a question mark on the app, rather than the typical car icon.

First, a group of well-dressed a cappella singers from Stanford University pulled up to serenade us. They were spectacular.
A couple hours later, lightening struck again. This time, Ansi won a Christmas tree, a set of ornaments, and candy canes.

On Ansi's third successful attempt to order an Uber promo, he gave away his serenade to Business Insider's senior account executive Susan Galvin. An acoustic group performed a cover of Ingrid Michaelson's "The Way I Am."
Other promotions included a performance by a mariachi band, cash, playtime with kittens, and free food from the city's most beloved street chef, The Tamale Lady.
Friday is the last day of Uber's weeklong celebration. You can check here for updates on what the surprise will be.
