2. The scam involving fake admissions was unearthed in July 2013 after individuals acting as exam candidates were arrested.
3. The Vyapam scam is potentially India’s deadliest scams, and is pegged at a whopping Rs. 2000 Crores.
4. 2000 people have already been booked and 100 others arrested. The list includes high profile names including a former education minister and senior officials of the State.
5. The scam led to a curious series of 5 suicides, 10 fatal road accidents, and 11 suspicious deaths. The police are investigating the exact motives behind each.
6. 38 year old Aaj Tak journalist Akshay Singh was found dead. He was covering the scam for the TV channel. Oddly this was just before he planned to interview the parents of Namrata Damor, who was connected to the scam.

9. Madhya Pradesh Minister Kailash Vijaywargiya drew flak after his comments on the death of the journalist,"Patrakar vatrakar chhodo, aaj hum se bada patrakar he kya (Forget the journalist. Is there any bigger journalist than me today", he said.
10. Lalit Modi has claimed that the scam is a strategy by news channels to counter him and that he will not let that happen.
