Japanese automaker Kawasaki has launched the Ninja 500, the company’s latest sports bike in India. This comes just days after the company launched the Z650RS retro bike in the country.
The Kawasaki Ninja 500 is a 500cc sports bike that has been placed above the Ninja 400 and Ninja 300 sports bikes. The bike has been launched as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), which is one of the reasons for the bike’s higher price.

The Kawasaki Z650RS is priced at ₹5.24 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. It is currently available in a single colour option – Metallic Spark Black. The bike was also launched in Kawasaki Racing Team colours globally, which may make its way to India in the future.

The Kawasaki Ninja 500 is inspired by the company’s Ninja 400 but comes with a sleeker design. The bike is built on a trellis frame and features an LCD instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity. It is suspended on a telescopic fork and comes with 17-inch alloy wheels. The bike is equipped with a LED headlight with a projector for low beam and reflective LED for high beam.

The Kawasaki Ninja 500 is equipped with a 451cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine mated with a six-speed gearbox. The engine produces 45 bhp power at 9000 rpm and a peak torque of 42.6 Nm at 6000 rpm.

Aprilia
The Kawasaki Ninja 500 competes with the likes of the Yamaha R3 and the Aprilia RS457. It is to be noted that both its rivals are available at a cheaper price. While the Aprilia RS457 has an ex-showroom price of ₹4.10 lakh, the Yamaha R3 is priced at ₹4.65 lakh. As mentioned earlier, the Ninja 500 is taxed higher as it is a CBU.
Ninja 400 available at a discounted price

The Kawasaki Ninja 400 which was launched at an ex-showroom price of ₹5.24 lakh has received a discount of ₹40,000, bringing down the price to ₹4.84 lakh. The discount is applicable till the stock lasts and the company is likely to discontinue the bike in the country.
