Electric vehicles (EV) have become popular in India amid rising fuel prices and subsidies being offered by the government for EVs. It’s not just electric two wheelers, electric cars have also gained momentum in the country, with major companies launching electric cars.
From British Luxury carmaker Lotus entering the market with its Eletre electric SUV to the Volvo C40 Recharge electric crossover, there have been multiple electric cars launched in India in 2023.
The year 2024 will also witness the launch of multiple electric cars, with India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki also entering the segment. In this post, we look at some of the upcoming electric cars in India in 2024.
Maruti Suzuki eVX

India’s biggest automaker, Maruti Suzuki is expected to introduce its first electric car, the Maruti Suzuki eVX in the country in 2024. The company had showcased a concept of the car at the Auto Expo 2023 and is currently being tested by the company. The Indian automaker is expected to launch the car with a 60 kWh battery pack, offering a claimed range of up to 550 km on a single charge.
Tata Harrier EV

Tata Motors is all set to launch an electric option for its premium offering Harrier. The car was showcased at the Auto Expo 2023 and will be built on the company’s Gen 2 EV architecture. At the moment, not much is known about the car, but it is expected to offer premium features and a long range.
Tata Punch EV

After offering EV options for Nexon, Tiago and Tigor, Tata Motors is all set to introduce the Tata Punch EV in India in 2024. The car is currently being tested and has already been spotted multiple times. The car is expected to launch with a revamped design along the lines of the new Nexon and is claimed to offer a range of up to 325 km on a single charge.

After the launch of the Mahindra XUV400, the Indian automaker is expected to launch the Mahindra XUV.e8, based on the company’s XUV700 SUV. The car is expected to feature dual electric motors, Level-2 ADAS, and offer a range of over 450 km on a single charge.
Kia EV9

Kia is also expected to launch a premium electric car, the Kia EV9 electric car in India in 2024. The Kia EV9 is a three-row electric SUV that comes with a powerful electric motor. It is claimed to offer up to 541 km on a single charge and a 15-minute charge is claimed to offer over 290 km of range.
Hyundai Creta EV

Hyundai is expected to launch an electric option of its popular SUV, the Hyundai Creta in India in 2024. The car is expected to feature similar interiors as its ICE variant and is expected to offer a range of around 400 km on a single charge.
Tata Curvv EV

In addition to the Tata Punch EV, the Indian automaker is also expected to launch the Tata Curvv EV, the company’s SUV coupe offering, which will be placed above the Nexon EV. It is expected to feature a large battery, offering up to 500 km of range on a single charge, ADAS, a large infotainment system and more.
