SEBI brings in Pramod Rao as its new for debt, hybrid securities

  • SEBI has approved the appointment of Pramod Rao as executive director, who in his last stint looked after the legal function of ICICI Group.
  • Rao will handle the department of debt and hybrid securities and enquiry and adjudication department.

Capital markets regulator SEBI has appointed Pramod Rao as executive director SEBI to look after debt, hybrid securities.

He will handle the department of debt and hybrid securities and enquiry and adjudication department.

Rao comes with an experience of about 25 years
Prior to this assignment, Rao held the position of group general counsel at ICICI Bank providing strategic oversight to the legal function for the ICICI group. Earlier, he was also the board member of ICICI Securities, ICICI Prudential Trust and ICICI Trusteeship Services.

This is the second top management hire from ICICI Group by SEBI in 2022 after it appointed Madhabi Puri Buch as the chairperson. She had worked with the group for over 15 years.

There are now 11 executive directors at SEBI.

Rao holds a degree of B.A.LL.B. (Hons) from National Law School of India University, Bangalore.

He has also contributed to various legal and regulatory reform initiatives of the government, regulators and industry forums.
