DA Fani Willis takes a breather from deciding Trump's fate in Georgia and parties with Shaq
  • Fulton County DA Fani Willis was spotted partying with Shaq at his birthday party over the weekend.
  • She appeared to rock a pair of Nikes at Shaq's "sneaker ball."

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, the woman who will decide whether to refer $4 against former President Donald Trump to an ordinary grand jury, took a breather and partied with Shaq last weekend.

The four-time NBA champion and sports commentator, who famously lost a one-on-one match in 2001, at the height of his career, with the late singer Aaron Carter, held a 51st birthday party at Atlanta's "The Bank" event center on Friday.

$4 at his event. Jeff DiSantis, a spokesperson for the Fulton County District Attorney's office, told Insider that she and Shaq are friends.

"I can confirm that she and Mr. O'Neal are friends from working together on various community events and programs," DiSantis told Insider.

According to $4, the party was billed as a "sneaker ball."

"Ladies come dressed in your ballroom gowns or bell bottoms, but remember this is a sneaker ball," the press release said. "Fellas this will be the one night to flaunt your fly kicks with a tuxedo or in true upscale ATL fashion."

DiSantis said he was unsure what types of sneakers Willis wore, but that he'd ask. DiSantis did not get back to Insider by press time. They appear to be a pair of $4.

Willis is in the middle of a number of ongoing high-profile criminal investigations. She's currently overseeing a sprawling 56-count $4 against the alleged gang YSL, which she says includes the rapper Young Thug, now in its second month of jury selection. She is also overseeing $4 into efforts by Trump and his allies to overturn Trump's election loss in the state to now-President Joe Biden.

A special grand jury Willis empaneled completed a report into Trump in January. If Willis now refers the case to a grand jury, it would have the power to bring criminal indictments.

It's unclear when Willis will decide what to do with the report. The Manhattan district attorney's office, which is investigating Trump's hush-money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 presidential election, is $4 considering whether to bring a criminal case against the former president.

Trump has $4 over the next year as he runs for the 2024 presidential election. He has pending trials for civil lawsuits alleging rape, tax fraud, and a scam where he pushed a multi-level marketing scheme. Trump has denied wrongdoing in all cases and investigations.

Criminal cases, such as the Manhattan and Georgia cases, $4 in court calendars when they're running concurrently. DiSantis did not comment when asked about the timeline of Willis's decision to empanel a new grand jury for her investigation into Trump.

A representative for Shaq did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.
