Dr. Fauci says Santa Claus is 'good to go' to safely visit homes around the world on Christmas

It's safe for Santa Claus to climb down the chimney this year, Dr. Anthony Fauci has confirmed.

Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease expert, appeared on Saturday's CNN/Sesame Street Townhall to address any concerns about whether Santa Claus will be able to visit amid the pandemic. Fauci said all is under control.

"I took care of that for you, because I was worried that you'd all be upset," Fauci said in response to several children who asked if it would be okay for Santa to visit. "So what I did a little while ago - I took a trip up there to the North Pole, I went there and I vaccinated Santa Claus myself. I measured his level of immunity and he is good to go."

The US has surpassed 17.4 million confirmed cases of coronavirus, according to Johns Hopkins University. The surge of cases ahead of the upcoming holidays could pose safety concerns over whether Santa Claus could visit homes across the world.

But no need to worry: Fauci has previously confirmed that Santa Claus will be able to travel safely. He told USA Today in late November that Santa is "exempt" from the pandemic because one of his many "good qualities" includes "innate immunity."

"He can come down the chimney, he can leave the presents, he can leave and you have nothing to worry about," Fauci doubled down on Saturday. "Santa Claus is good to go."
