There are two ways you can transfer your WhatsApp chats from one phone to another – using Google Drive or offline transfer. While it’s easier to use the Google Drive method, not everyone may be comfortable linking Google Drive to their WhatsApp account.
To help these users, WhatsApp has introduced a new “Transfer chats” feature that allows you to easily transfer your WhatsApp chats without using Google Drive.
The WhatsApp transfer chats feature is currently available for beta users and is expected to be rolled out to all users in the coming days.
Here’s how you can use the feature –
- Open WhatsApp on your current smartphone, click on the three dots menu, and click “Settings”.
- Now, click on “Chats” and look for “Transfer chats”.
- Then, click on “Transfer chats”.
- Now, click “Start” and allow the required permissions, such as Wi-Fi and nearby devices.
- Now, install WhatsApp on your new phone and register with the same number.
- Once you enter the OTP, you will be asked if you wish to transfer your chats.
- Click on “Continue” and scan the QR code.
