- Having a good pair of headsets to attend calls and meetings while working from home has become essential in a post-pandemic world.
- The
Poly Voyager 4220 UC promises great audio and in-call performance while being comfortable to use. - I have been using these headsets for a few weeks now and here’s my full review.
This is especially a problem when you have to attend meetings and calls, since the lack of a proper audio and video setup can make life difficult not just for you, but even for your colleagues.
Over the last two years, headsets and webcams have become a part of home setups for many of us. A lot of us might have also seen a notable improvement in audio and video quality of calls and meetings as more and more people look to buy the best headphones for their needs.
I have reviewed some of these headsets over the past two years, and the latest is the Poly Voyager 4220 UC. Poly also has a bundle that includes a webcam, giving you a complete audio video setup for your professional life.
I have been using the Poly Voyager 4220 UC for a few weeks now and here is my full review.
The Poly Voyager 4220 UC is priced at ₹15,800, while the Studio P5 webcam is priced at ₹7,500. Both the devices are available on Amazon.
One of the most annoying issues during meetings and calls while working from home is the background noise. Given that different people live in different locations, each with their own characteristics, it is something that teams have to manage.
However, a good pair of headsets can minimize this problem to a great extent. The Voyager 4220 UC comes equipped with two-way noise cancellation. This is useful when you want to shut out the noise while working, and your colleagues will thank you for reducing the noise from your end during team meetings and calls.
These Poly headsets come with dual microphones to block out external sounds, along with a flexible microphone boom to adjust its position according to your needs.
Over the course of the last few weeks, I noticed a considerable drop in external noise, both on the other end of the call as well on my end. I also checked with others on the call, who mention that the noise reduction was noticeable.
Poly says that the Voyager 4220 UC offers 12 hours of talk time, and up to 15 hours of hearing time. Over the course of my usage, the real-world numbers were around 10-11 hours, enough for at least a week’s worth of usage. As far as charging time is concerned, Poly says it takes 1.5 hours for a full charge.
One of the important aspects of headsets is how comfortable they are to use – this is another area where the Voyager 4220 UC shines. I have used these headsets for hours at a stretch, and even though they aren’t very light, it’s never been an issue.
The earpads take some time to smooth out, but once you start using them, they are really comfortable and cup the ears very well. The headsets sit comfortably, too, thanks to memory foam that adjusts itself according to the shape of your head.
Coming to the ease of use, the Voyager 4220 UC comes equipped with volume controls, mute, call management and media playback buttons. The mute button is especially useful when you are on a call but away from your desk and need to quickly mute yourself.
The headset also has useful voice alerts for talk time and mute status.
The Voyager 4220 UC is compatible with both phones as well as computers, thanks to Bluetooth 4.1 support as well as a receiver that you can plug into your computer or laptop.
The Poly Voyager 4220 UC is a simple, feature-rich pair of headsets that do their job very well. Noise cancellation, especially during calls, is great, and the talk time is adequate for a week’s worth of use. The earpads are comfortable and the headset as a whole feels easy to use for hours at a stretch.
The price, though, is slightly on the higher side. But if you are looking for a no-nonsense solution for your meetings and need excellent in-call performance, the Voyager 4220 UC does its job very well.
