- Google recently announced the rollout of
Bard to over 180 countries. - Bard is Google’s conversational artificial intelligence (AI), similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
- Here are some things which Bard can do but ChatGPT cannot.
The search giant also announced that Bard now supports Korean and Japanese and will soon get support for over 40 languages, including Hindi. One of the reasons Google is trying to push Bard is its rival ChatGPT. The AI chatbot created by OpenAI reportedly caused Google to issue a “code red” amid concerns about the future of its search engine.
Google then unveiled Bard, its own conversational AI chatbot. Today, we look at some tasks that Bard can do but ChatGPT cannot.
ChatGPT currently does not allow users to access the internet, whereas Bard uses the internet to search for answers to your questions. This allows Bard to answer your questions with more information.
Google, during its I/O keynote revealed that Bard will be integrated with Gmail, allowing you to easily write your emails for different occasions right in the app. ChatGPT is currently not integrated with any email applications.
In addition to the upcoming integration with Gmail, Bard already allows you to export content generated by it to Gmail and Google Docs. Making it easier for you to use the content it generates. While using ChatGPT, you will only be able to copy the content.
Like most Google applications, you can use voice prompts to ask questions to Bard, which is currently not possible with ChatGPT. Voice prompts are handy, especially when multitasking, as you can ask questions without typing.
As Bard is connected to the internet, it can provide you with up-to-date information. ChatGPT, on the other hand, is limited to events up to September 2021. This makes Bard a better tool for both professionals and students, as you can get the latest information.
Another benefit that Bard offers due to its internet connectivity is the ability to summarise web pages. As Bard is connected to the internet, you can quickly summarise webpages by sharing the link. ChatGPT, however, cannot connect to the internet, and you will have to copy-paste the content you wish to get summarised.
Google’s Bard supports over 20 programming languages, and it can explain about programs just by using a link to it. While ChatGPT is also good at coding, it cannot explain programs if you provide a link to it.
In addition to answering your question, Bard provides you with searches related to your prompt. This makes it easier for you to continue your search and gives you an idea about what to look for. This is another area where ChatGPT is currently behind.
