Google Maps comes with plenty of features that make your navigation easier. One such feature is that it allows you to store your home and work addresses in the app.

When you save your home and work address, you can calculate your daily commute time without the need for typing in the search bar. Adding the home address saves a lot of time when you’re navigating from an unknown location. In this article, we will learn how to set or change the home and work address. Follow the simple steps given below and update your addresses in the Google Maps app.

Set your home or work address


On computer
  • On your computer’s browser, open Google Maps and ensure that you’re signed in to the Google account.
  • Click on Menu, the hamburger icon at the top left.
  • Select Your places and click Labeled.
  • Choose between Home or Work.
  • Type in your home or work address, and click Save.
On Android devices

  • On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app.
  • Tap ‘Saved’.
  • Under ‘Your lists’, tap on Labeled.
  • Choose between Home or Work.
  • Type in the address you wish to add, and click Save.
Follow the same steps as that for your Android phone to add home or work addresses in Google Maps on your iPhone or iPad.

If you relocate your home or switch jobs, you will have to change your home and work addresses. Here’s how you can do it.

Change your home or work address


On Computer
  • Open Google Maps and ensure you're signed in to your Google account.
  • Type Home or Work.
  • It will show you your old stored address.
  • Next to the address that you want to change, click on Edit.
  • Enter your new address and click Save.
On Android devices
  • On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app.
  • Tap Saved.
  • Under ‘Your lists’, tap on Labeled.
  • Next to "Home" or "Work," tap on the three-dot icon, More.
  • Select Edit home or Edit work, depending on the address you wish to change.
  • Clear the current address, then enter the new address.
The process is similar for iPhone and iPad, as the Google Maps app has a similar interface on both operating systems.

You can also delete the saved address by following the steps given below.

Delete your home or work address


On computer
  • On your computer’s browser, open Google Maps and ensure that you’re signed in to the Google account.
  • Click on Menu, the hamburger icon at top left.
  • Select Your places and click Labeled.
  • You can remove the address you wish to delete by clicking on the cross ‘x’ icon next to the home or work address.
On Android devices
  • On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app.
  • Tap Saved.
  • Under ‘Your lists’, tap on Labeled.
  • Next to "Home" or "Work," tap on the three-dot icon, More.
  • Select the ‘Remove Home’ option to delete the home address or ‘Remove Work’ option to delete the work address.
Again, the steps are the same for iPhone and iPad as that of Android devices. Follow the process on whichever device you are using to update your home or work addresses and benefit from simpler navigation.
