U.S.Polo Assn. ropes in Arjun Rampal as its brand ambassador

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has pointed out that many renowned <keyword id="143" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword> actors haven’t complied with service tax norms when receiving payments from producers. The list of actors include <keyword id="6354583" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Salman-Khan">Salman Khan</keyword>, <keyword id="6357861" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ranbir-Kapoor">Ranbir Kapoor</keyword>, Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh and <keyword id="2180" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arjun-Rampal">Arjun Rampal</keyword> and the revenue skipped is more than Rs 50 crore. "During the examination of records of Salman Khan, Arjun <keyword id="2182" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="rampal">Rampal</keyword>, Ritesh <keyword id="6359159" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vilasrao-Deshmukh">Vilasrao Deshmukh</keyword> and Vishal (Ajay) <keyword id="32994" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="devgan">Devgan</keyword> in in the Mumbai service tax commissionerates, we observed from the agreements between producer and actors that the producers, being service recipients, agreed to provide for and bear expenses relating to arrangement of the services for travel, lodging and boarding of the make-up artist, hair stylist and spot boy ," the ET learnt from reports. The auditor duly noted that these services fall in the ambit of additional consideration directly and inextricably linked to the services provided by assesses. Non-inclusion of the additional consideration during 2013-14 to 2015-16 resulted in non-payment of service tax by the actors. When this was pointed out to the service tax aut horities, the department said it has issued show cause notice to Deshmukh and notices were being issued in the case of Devgn and Rampal. "Reply in the case of Salman Khan was awaited," CAG observed, according to ET report. In case of actor Ranbir Kapoor, the CAG said, "We noticed two instances where for the same film shot in India and abroad, the payment to artist for the portion shot abroad was arranged from foreign companies, thereby the service was made to look as export of service with no tax liability." "Ranbir Kapoor acted in the movie ' Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' produced by <keyword id="4854211" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="dharma-productions-pvt-ltd">Dharma Productions Pvt Ltd</keyword>, shot both in India and New York. He received a consideration of Rs 6.75 crore from a foreign company , ADHM Films Ltd., (UK) based in London for film shot in UK and did not pay service tax of Rs 83.43 lakh treating the same as export of services," the auditor pointed out.

The movie started on a good note on Friday and managed to mint Rs 10.40 crore on Friday. The Valentine’s Day helped in maintaining the momentum and the movie managed to add another Rs 11.16 crore to its weekend total. On the other hand, Sunday had a different story to tell. This multi starrer movie ended up collecting Rs 7.12 crore, taking the overall weekend tally to Rs 28.68 crore. The drop that the movie witnessed was partly due to the bad reviews and also because of the India Vs Pakistan 2015 World Cup match. 
 Another movie that opened this week was <keyword id="254528" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ram-Rahim-Singh">Ram Rahim Singh</keyword>’s controversial movie, MSG: The Messenger. Over the weekend, this movie managed a mere Rs 6 crore and has been touted by the critics as a self-praising movie, made just for the fans. 
 
We just hope things to improve immensely in the coming week when Varun Dhawan starrer Badlapur hits the big screen. If the promos are anything to go by, it looks like an intense fair and Dhawan is expected to woo the audiences with his powerful performance.

Box Office Collections of Roy

However, the box office reports of this weekend share a different story. As per koimoi.com, the movie managed a mere 30% opening, which is not what we would expect from a movie that has Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role. The report further states that in the first weekend, the movie managed to collect a modest Rs 13 crore. The movie has been made <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shamitabh">with a budget</a> of Rs 40 crore and also stars Akshara Haasan. 
 It is noteworthy that last weeks’ releases – <keyword id="2528710" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hawaizaada">Hawaizaada</keyword> and <keyword id="1119087" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Khamoshiyan">Khamoshiyan</keyword> – too could not cash register ringing. However, Baby, which is currently in its third week, is still holding to its ground. The movie has managed to collect around Rs 89.60 crore from ticket sales in India. It may not be able to make its presence felt in the Rs 100-crore club, but it has still managed to cover good ground so far. 
 Now our eyes are on Roy, which stars <keyword id="2180" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arjun-Rampal">Arjun Rampal</keyword>, Jacqueline Fernandez and Ranbir Kapoor in the leading roles. As the movie is releasing just before Valentine’s Day, we expect it to have a good opening, which might end the current dry spell of Bollywood. The songs of this movie are already getting noticed, so that should be another plus for this movie.

If there is one movie that has been long awaited by Ranbir Kapoor fans, it’s Roy. The romantic-action-thriller movie much hyped because of Kapoor’s role as a thief, and for an intense and powerful plot, which had been kept well under wraps, invoking the curiosity of cine goers. 
 While <keyword id="2180" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Arjun-Rampal">Arjun Rampal</keyword> had started shooting for the film in May this year, Ranbir was not able to join him on the sets because of his prior commitments, and began shooting only in September 2014. It is noteworthy that the makers had initially planned to release the film in second or third quarter of 2014 but because of one or the other reason, the movie kept getting delayed. 
 
Well, all that is a matter of the past now that the official trailer is out, and the movie is all set to hit screens on 13th February 2015. 
 
The first trailer of the movie was launched yesterday on the official YouTube channel of T-series, and in less than 24 hours, the trailer has managed to not only touch the golden mark of a million views, but also pass it gloriously with 14,78,556+ views and counting. 
 The trailer gives a glimpse into the plot of the action thriller, showing Arjun Rampal and <keyword id="6354417" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Jacqueline-Fernandez">Jacqueline Fernandez</keyword> as movie directors Kabir Grewal and Ayesha Amir and Ranbir Kapoor in the title role of Roy, a thief. Rumours have it that Fernandez would be playing a double role in the movie, or else it would be one love triangle to watch out. 
 
The film has been primarily shot in Malaysia, and the trailer also shows the supporting cast of Anupam Kher, Victor Banerjee, Asif Basra and Rajit Kapur. Directed by debutant Vikramjeet Singh, the movie is expected to fare well at the box office, and can prove to be one of the biggest hits of the first quarter of 2015, if the director keeps his hands tight on the mystery.

The film was declared a hit, followed by another hit sequel 'Housefull 2' which was released in the 2012 and included a stellar cast of Akshay, Ritiesh, John Abraham, Shreyas Talpade, Jacqueline Fernandez, Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Mithun Chakraborty and Asin. Both parts were helmed by director Sajid Khan. Sajid was replaced in the third instalment of the film by director duo Sajid Samji and Farhad Samji. The film was released in 2016. Director Farhad Samji helmed the fourth part of the franchise which was a reincarnation comedy film. The fifth part will be helmed by Tarun Mansukhani. Sajid Nadiadwala is producing it. (ANI)

Akshay Kumar to start shooting for 'Housefull 5' in January 2024

By Reena Bharadwaj New York [US], August 21 (ANI): The world's largest 'India Day Parade' outside India kicked off on Sunday afternoon in New York City, with the celebration witnessing huge floats and marching groups comprising members of the Indian-American community. Supporting the spectacle were several members of the diaspora including spiritual Guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, actors <keyword id="689826" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="samantha-ruth-prabhu" source="Orion">Samantha Ruth Prabhu</keyword>, Jacqueline Fernandez and New York City Mayor Eric Adam. The parade began at 12 pm (local time) at 38th Street and Madison Avenue in New York. It was organized by the Federation of India Association in New York as part of the 41st World Largest India Day Parade. With many holding the Indian tricolour and dressed in celebratory attire, and performers dancing and playing drums, the parade served as a vibrant convergence of cultures, patriotism, and shared values that unite India and America. Actor Jacqueline Fernandez, during the parade, was seen waving the Indian tricolour. Randhir Jaiswal, the Consul General of India in New York, also joined the parade. He said that India and the United States have shared democratic values and that the message of India is that they want to be a "force for global good." This year's tagline is "Mission Life", the same name as a mass movement launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "Mission life is lifestyle about the environment. We want to tell the world that we must change our behavioural habits. We must change the way we live if we care about the planet," Jaiswal said. He further added that the global community is celebrating the year of millets which are considered superfoods that can also help the planet because they can be grown with less water than other foods. Regarding Mission Life, PM Modi highlighted that climate change goes beyond only government responsibility and needs contributions from individual, families and communities. The Prime Minister underlined that Mission LiFE makes the fight against climate change democratic, in which everyone can contribute with their respective capacities. <keyword id="25796" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="samantha" source="Orion">Samantha</keyword>, who will next be seen in the movie 'Kushi' with Vijay Deverakonda, called it an honour to witness such a rich representation of Indian culture and heritage. Hotstar too set aside at least ₹120 crore to make seven originals across languages. India’s homegrown platform Zee5 however is playing the numbers game. “Zee5 has already invested in over 100 originals till date. But we believe that there’s a lot of room for regional content in this country. There are many stories to be told. Zee5 will do about 70-80 originals this coming year,” Zee5 CEO Tarun Katial told Business Insider India in an interview. Original shows and exclusive movies In addition to original shows, it is planning <a href="http://financialexpress.com/brandwagon/tarun-katial-on-why-zee5-is-more-than-a-video-streaming-app/1874856/">to produce 30-40 movies</a> across languages which will be exclusively streamed on the platform. Katial says that Zee5 wants to be a ‘super app’ for entertainment. At present, Zee5 has over 1,153 shows with 70 originals and 3,147 movies on its platforms. It also live streams all its 45 channels just like Hotstar. Zee5 expects this strategy to bring in more subscribers. It expects to have 15 million daily active users and 100 million monthly users by March. It had around 8 million daily active users in December, and has been operational for two years. OTT platform is not overcrowded, says Katiyal In spite of the presence of many more platforms like SunNxt, Voot, SonyLiv and many more, Katiyal believes that the Indian OTT market isn’t overcrowded. “While there are a lot of OTT platforms in India, it finally comes down to those OTT players who have enough content to play this out,” he said. A large base of content can be provided by platforms that have been in the television business. “Broadcasters eventually have a meaningful edge in this business because of their ability to reuse their content and their legacy of having built years and years of content is far better than anybody else,” he said. Going Global With strong roots in regional content, Zee5 is all set to take its battle with Netflix, Prime Videos in the international markets as well. In fact, they are using the same success mantra — local content to local audiences. Zee5 plans to release 80 original shows this year across Indian languages

The first official trailer of Karan Johar’s upcoming movie <keyword id="6360799" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="brothers">Brothers</keyword> was released yesterday. An official remake of the Hollywood movie Warrior, the Hindi version stars <keyword id="2823" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Akshay-Kumar">Akshay Kumar</keyword>, <keyword id="1320874" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sidharth-Malhotra">Sidharth Malhotra</keyword>, Jacqueline Fernandes, and Jackie Shroff. 
 
In the trailer, we see Akshay and Sidharth as estranged brothers who face each other in a boxing ring. Jackie Shroff plays the role of their father while Jacqueline Fernandes plays Akshay Kumar’s wife. While Akshay plays David, a professor who turns to fighting to save her daughter’s life, Sidharth plays Monty, a fighter who becomes an internet sensation because of one viral video and wants to prove himself. 
 
The movie has been directed by Karan Malhotra, who has earlier directed the remake of the hit 1990 film Agneepath, starring Hrithik Roshan and Sanjay Dutt in leading roles. Produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar and Endemol India, the film is officially presented by Fox Star India, in association with Lionsgate. 
 The trailer was awaited by the respective fan followings of both the stars, and had been trending on Twitter for a few days. It has collected 1,567,134 views in less than 24 hours of being released, and has caught the fancy of many <keyword id="143" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword> stars as well.

1. The first time we saw Shraddha Kapoor on the silver screen was when she donned the role of a studious geek Aparna Khanna who volunteers in a poker experiment.
