sleek design and comes with an aluminium unibody design, giving it a sturdy and premium feel. The tablet measures 7.52mm and weighs 568 grams. The tablet comes in two colour options - Quick Silver and Graphite Grey. I got the Graphite Grey colour variant, which comes with a dual-tone matte finish. The area around the rear camera setup has a long strip in a darker tone, while the rest of the back features a lighter tone. <div type="image" title="Back" msid="114583789" hostid="261" sizebytes="52882" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Redmi Pad Pro 5G rear design&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The tablet comes with a minimalistic design, featuring two circular modules at the back – one for the camera and one for the LED. It comes with Redmi branding at the bottom. Apart from this, there’s nothing at the back. Thanks to its metallic body, you don’t have to worry about fingerprint smudges. The volume rockers have been placed considering that the tablet will be used vertically and horizontally. The volume rockers are on the right when held vertically and on the top when used horizontally. <div type="image" title="Top" msid="114584038" hostid="261" sizebytes="25798" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Power button and speakers&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The power button is on the top when held vertically and on the left side when held horizontally. I had no issues using the volume rockers and the power button. The SIM tray has been placed on the right side, along with two microphones. The tablet is equipped with quad speakers – two at the top and two at the bottom. It offers up to 600 nits brightness. <div type="image" title="Display" msid="114583969" hostid="261" sizebytes="43918" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Redmi Pad Pro display&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> While an AMOLED display would have offered better colours and contrast, the Redmi Pad Pro 5G’s display is bright and offers vibrant visuals. It works well both indoors and outdoors, so you won’t have to worry about using it in sunlight. The tablet’s high resolution and refresh make it an excellent option for watching your favourite movies and shows, gaming and more. <h2>Redmi Pad Pro 5G software and performance</h2>The Redmi Pad Pro 5G runs on Android 14 out of the box, with the company’s HyperOS on top. For those unaware, Xiaomi has replaced MIUI, the company’s custom skin with HyperOS. The tablet will get two years of Android updates and three years of security updates. The tablet comes with a host of connectivity features, including the Smartphone Link feature that allows you to transfer data from your Xiaomi smartphone and tablet easily. In addition to this, you also get a shared clipboard feature, which allows you to copy text and images from your smartphone and paste them onto your tablet. In terms of performance, the tablet is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset. It is available in two variants – 8GB RAM with 128GB of internal storage and 8GB RAM with 256GB of internal storage. I tested the 8GB RAM + 256GB internal storage variant. This is a mid-range chipset that offers decent performance and is enough to get you through your day-to-day activities. While it is not the most powerful chipset, I did not notice any stuttering or lags while gaming at default settings. The device does get slightly warm after an extended gaming session. The Redmi Pad Pro 5G comes with a huge 10,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. The battery on the tablet is good, offering two days of battery life with some gaming and steaming. Another important feature of the tablet is that it supports 5G connectivity, which is great to have, especially for data connectivity. <h2>Redmi Pad Pro 5G camera</h2>It features an 8MP primary camera with 4K recording support and comes with an 8MP selfie camera with 1080p video recording support. The device offers a good display, good speakers, good battery life and a decent design. If you are in the market for a tablet around ₹25,000, the Redmi Pad Pro 5G is a good option. According to a report by the International Data Corporation (<keyword id="19950614" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="IDC" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="IDC" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="IDC">IDC</keyword>), Q2 2024 emerged as the fourth consecutive quarter to record growth in shipments. In Q2 2024, 35 million smartphones were shipped in the country, recording a 3.2% year-on-year growth. “The latter half of Q2 is a prelude to the crucial second half of the year with the festive sale period going up till November. Apart from old inventory clearance in the first half of the quarter, vendors also started to launch new smartphones, especially in the mid-premium/premium segment from mid-quarter onwards, for monsoon sales in July and August,” said Upasana Joshi, Senior Research Manager, Devices Research, IDC India. In Q2 2023, the share of 5G smartphones in shipments was just 49%. The average selling price (ASP) of 5G smartphones has decreased to $293. The shipments to online channels grew by 8% year-on-year to reach 50% in Q2 2024, up from 47% in Q2 2023. Due to severe heatwave conditions in several parts of India, offline channel shipments declined by 2% year-on-year in Q2 2024. <ul class="summary-list"><li>The G7 summit is exposing a crisis of Western authority, experts say.</li><li>Far-right parties are gaining ground in several countries, and leadership appears to be weakened. </li></ul>The <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/biden-ukraine-security-deal-hollow-pledge-putin-ceasefire-russia-us-2024-6">G7 summit</a> has long been a showcase of global leadership and power.The world's seven largest "advanced" economies — the US, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the UK — gather each year to discuss issues such as the economy, security, and trade.But 2024's group of leaders appears to be one of the weakest that has attended the summit for some time.As <a target="_blank" href="https://www.politico.eu/article/g7-giorgia-meloni-2024-rome-emmanuel-macron-rishi-sunak-joe-biden-russia-ukraine/">Politico</a> noted, many of the attendees are distracted by domestic issues that are threatening their authority and grip on power.This year's cohort shows that there is a "crisis of Western authority," according to Inderjeet Parmar, a professor of international politics at City University of London.<h2 id="55e7fbd8-0635-4b37-9bc3-908aef0c02d7">A threat to power</h2>Political instability and uncertainty are rampant, from the recent <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/european-union-parliament-election-far-right-nationalist-parties-2024-6">surge of support for the far-right</a> at the EU Parliamentary elections to the controversies on both sides of the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/donald-trump-hunter-biden-convictions-damaged-us-reputation-2024-6">US presidential campaign</a>.Among those facing challenges to his authority is France's president, Emmanuel Macron. He is just days away from a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/european-union-parliament-election-far-right-nationalist-parties-2024-6">snap election</a>, which many think could end his current coalition.Macron called the election after a big win for his rival Marine Le Pen's National Rally party at the <a target="_blank" rel="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/european-union-parliament-election-far-right-nationalist-parties-2024-6">European parliamentary elections</a>. Donald Trump and Hunter Biden's respective criminal convictions have undermined the country's brand, regardless of who wins the Oval Office in the upcoming election, according to Payne and Parmar."The USA, as the world's pivotal state, at the heart of the G7 and its liberal international order, has candidates for the White House in November who are unpopular, and one of them is a convicted felon leading what is a far-right political party that threatens to wreak vengeance on its political opponents," Parmar said.<h2 id="1b1fbd61-741a-4d9c-a0ea-c529f41812d1">'Brittle at best'</h2>Payne argued that some of the G7 leaders aren't outright weak; rather, they face circumstances that threaten their authority."This is largely the same group of leaders that initiated or maintained an unprecedentedly strong response to Putin's invasion of Ukraine, for example," Payne said."But in a democracy, leaders are only as strong as their domestic foundations allow them to be, however bold their foreign policy visions may be. And right now, the domestic foundations of most of the G7 leaders are brittle at best," he added.
