In order to correct that bias, the social networking site is bringing in local firms such as HCL Technologies, Wipro and Tech Mahindra to help them moderate local content. According to the <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/tech/internet/indian-it-roped-in-to-rid-facebook-of-its-fake-news-woes/articleshow/67315284.cms">Economic Times</a>, Facebook has been in talks with Genpact and Accenture as well. The combined contracts of local companies with Facebook is valued at $400 million and will only increase with these new developments coming into play. Indian laws, moderation and bias The pressure on Facebook to walk the line has increased with the increasing influence that it has on dictating global political speech — especially in light of the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=cambridge+analytica&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Cambridge Analytica</a> scandal that came to light earlier last year. The ‘secret rulebook’ heightened the concerns of Indian users with guidelines that instructed moderators to pull down posts on the site that were critical of religion or, in some cases, used the term ‘free Kashmir’. <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=misinformation&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Misinformation</a> is definitely a beast that Facebook has to deal with, but pushing out mistaken bias — even unintentionally — can have repercussions that fuel the same problem. It also gives Facebook the power of being an arbiter of global speech distilling the freedom of expression. The report leaked by the New York Times cites that Facebook’s ‘secret rulebook’, addressing many countries around the world, includes diagrams that explain that removing certain content is only done if it has the potential to become a legal challenge or blocked by particular governments. Having local firms at the helm of understanding what is actually being shared on Facebook will be a welcome to change to address these issues and empower the platform to unbiased, to best of its ability, while moderating posts that may actually prove to be harmful. Hopefully, the moderators won’t have to rely on Google Translate in order to understand the context of what is written and hence, make an informed decision of what to block and what not to block. Facebook is reportedly bringing in local IT firms to moderate fake news in India

At a time when it’s raining acquisitions everywhere, a company names Apax Partners is planning to exit an acquisition. According to an Economic Times report, Apax Partners, which had financed IGate's $1.2-billion (Rs 7,482 crore at current exchange rate) takeover of Patni, is planning to exit the acquisition, which is on the top lists of acquisition targets in the IT industry. 
 
The financial daily reports that Capgemini, Atos and Genpact are trying to acquire a part of IGate’s Patni Computer that Apax Partners have put on sale. 
 
In November, Apax Partners, which owns about 30% of the company, converted its debt in the company into equity and then filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission to have the option to sell its entire stake. 
 
 
The report further explains why three IT players (mentioned in the report above) are interesting in iGate. "IGate is the Goldilocks of the IT industry. They are not too big, not too small. They are just the right size and scale. And they'd be a good fit for Capgemini, Atos or even Genpact," said Peter Bendor-Samuel, CEO of IT advisory firm Everest. 
 
Of all three, Capegemini is expected to be a likely buyer of the US-headquartered company feels analysts. London-based UBS analyst Michael Briest mentioned in a note that Capgemini would receive additional tax benefits from the deal, as it is carrying a large deferred tax asset in the US.

The university will be launched in 2021. The idea for the university started three years ago, when a few IIT alums – today top business leaders – got together and thought of way to encourage India’s booming tech-driven ecosystem, say its founders. “We felt the need to reimagine technology education the way it’s being delivered today and create something that’s truly world-class and cutting edge, and reimagine teaching curriculum research,” Vineet Gupta, Managing Director, Jamboree Education Pvt. Ltd. and Founder and Trustee, Ashoka University, who is one of the investors and founding member of Plaksha, told Business Insider. The university will be built upon 50 acres of land near Chandigarh International Airport, near Indian School of Business, Mohali. In its first phase, the investors have planned to invest ₹3,500 million in capital for a 1,000 student campus. In 10 years, the founders aim for it to become a 8,000-students campus. “We met the Punjab and Haryana government, where the Punjab government was excited about the university. When the idea started it was five-six of us and now we have reached 40, the number will keep growing as it’s a combined philanthropic effort,” said Gupta. The idea behind the university is bringing technological solutions for society, Gupta said, adding they hope its ideas will help solve India’s challenges in areas ranging from food security, environment sustainability, health, education or innovation in manufacturing. “Technology has a huge role to play in advancing solutions for these problems.While the approach of the university will be to look at cutting edge technology in sectors like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, robotics among other, we would like the university to sensitize and deal with solutions focused on India,” said Gupta. Referral systems are slowly becoming companies’ favourite way of hiring new people, since it involves asking its own employees to recommend candidates, making sure that only worthy candidates appear for the interview. In turn, employees get rewarded. 
 A majority of Indian companies are now using top technology for referral hires, since it involves lesser time and also increases employee’s sense of belongingness with the company. "Nearly 55% of talent leaders see <keyword id="2813966" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="employee-referral-programmes">employee referral programmes</keyword> as the top source of quality hire," Irfan Abdulla, director, talent solutions, LinkedIn India, told ET. 
 
Top companies going the referral way for hiring include Coca-Cola, Infosys, Genpact, Capgemini, Deloitte, and Jubilant etc, with the mentioned names reporting hiring over 40% of their workforce through referrals. 
 
When it comes to rewarding employees for successful referrals, companies are paying more to employees who recommend more women for roles, which also helps in bridging the gender gap in company’s workforce. 
 
For example, Capgemini has launched 'recruitHER' for employees to upload profiles of female candidates to be eligible for a lucky draw. Coca-Cola also boasts of 31% women associates since they place a 15-20% premium on female candidates that get hired through referrals.

The helpline made history by being the first case of private IT giants coming together to support the government without being paid. 
 
As per Prasanto Roy, head of Nasscom's Internet Council, the helpline received over 3 million calls, out of which agents answered nearly 300,000 calls. 
 
"We have also submitted a commercial proposal for the helpline, and are awaiting a response from NITI Aayog and the ministry of electronics and IT," he told ET. 
 
"If the government decides to continue the helpline, it would cost less than '40 crore a year," said an official in the know.

We have written to NPCI and it will take a final call on this,“ said an official at the ministry of electronics and IT. 
 
There is also some confusion pertaining to the end date of the free service. While some operators are planning to down the shutters on the service by March-end, some have put a deadline of April 15.

A report from the commercial data information and analytics firm Propstack has said that India’s top seven markets absorbed considerable <keyword id="35279" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="commercial-real-estate">commercial real estate</keyword> with both outright purchases and leasing of office space. This has upped the commercial real estate to 5.8 million square feet during the Q1 of 2016, seeing a rise of 8% from a year ago. 
 
Last year, renewed corporate confidence amid steady economic growth brightened the scene of commercial real estate. The trend has continued this year as well, indicating economy's health and scope of job creation. 
 
The quarter saw commercial real estate transactions going up 23%, with demands being led by companies in BFSI (banking, financial service and insurance), e-commerce and IT/ITeS sectors.

The top seven markets include Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata. 
 
As per the Propstack report, most of these cities showed a steady growth in rents in the quarter that went by, except Kolkata. Talking in exact figures, Pune led the pack with 6.9% rise, followed by Bengaluru’s 5.7% and Delhi-NCR’s 2.8% growth. While Chennai and Mumbai saw marginal rises of 2.6% and 1.2%, Hyderabad saw a rise of 1.4%.

As PC sales fall worldwide, Dell is looking to transition into both a services company - offering software support, among other things - and diversify into other hardware areas, such as storage. According to reports, the state government is planning to establish around 500 <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=startups+">startups </a>by 2020. 
 
Under its startup policy, which is expected to be announced next week, the state has already shed Rs 55 crore for the coming five years, reported The Economic Times. 
 
Veenu Gupta, Principal Secretary, Industries at Government of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Rajasthan+">Rajasthan </a>says, “We plan to bring investments of up to Rs 500 crore in next five years and help set up at least 500 startups in the state, with the help of India's leading venture capital firms, accelerators and tech companies." 
 Gupta, who is also the Managing Director for <keyword id="6355588" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rajasthan">Rajasthan</keyword> Industrial development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) says that the government will provide an assistance of Rs 10 lakh per startup in the form of equity or loan. 
 The partner organisations like Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad's Centre for Innovation, Incubation &amp; <keyword id="107737" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Entrepreneurship">Entrepreneurship</keyword> will do the screening of startups. 
 
Apart form Rajasthan, only Karnataka, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala have launched a dedicated policy for tech-based startups. 
Moreover, the state plans to set-up about 50 incubators in the coming five years and it intends to take help of partner organisations like Rajasthan Venture Capital Fund, IIM-A's CIIE, Rajasthan Angel Investors Network (RAIN) and Chennai-based Impact investment firm Villgro. 
 Rajasthan currently possess venture-funded startups including CarDekho and Culture Alley, besides a tech park in Jaipur with firms such as Infosys and Genpact. Moreover, eCommerce firms like Amazon, <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword>, Urban Ladder and PepperFry too source a huge amount of textiles and furniture form the state. 
 
"A challenge for Rajasthan-based startups is visibility, which impacts fundraising and hiring. Initiatives like incubation could go a long way for VCs, talent, and potential customers to get to know of exciting startups here," said Nishant Patni, CEO of Jaipur-based language app startup Culture Alley, which raised $6.1 million (Rs 36 crore) in funds this year from New York-based Tiger Global Management and a few angel investors.

<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image">Thomson Reuters</div></div></div>Financial firms are trying to cut costs and staff and focus their resources on the areas where they have a competitive advantage.Markit, a UK financial-information company, which was launched in a converted barn in 2003 and is listed in the US, is making a business out of taking on some of the tasks they no longer want to perform.The company's staff dub themselves as being "plumbers in suits," according to a <a href="http://www.economist.com/news/finance-and-economics/21580494-private-company-controlled-banks-connects-much-financial">2013 Economist article</a>, and the company has carved out a critical role in fulfilling back-office tasks for financial firms.The company's latest move in this space involves partnering with technology company Dell and banks Barclays, HSBC, and Morgan Stanley to launch a new service called Know Your Third Party, or KY3P. It follows an earlier launch of a Know Your Customer service with Genpact, which now has a <a href="http://www.marketwatch.com/story/six-g14-dealers-implementing-markit-genpact-kyc-services-2015-03-09">whole host of banks signed up.</a><h2>Standardization</h2>Michele Trogni, managing director and cohead of solutions at Markit, told Business Insider: "We think our strength comes in bringing a number of banks or asset managers or hedge funds together and creating a standard that everyone can agree on."The aim is to create a central repository for information required for client or vendor due diligence, cut down on the amount of time it takes to cement a new commercial relationship, and reduce unnecessary, replicative requests for information."We call it smartsourcing," Trogni said.The new service will become a central hub for any company that needs to perform third-party due diligence. The hub will include standardized due-diligence questionnaires, financial details, and audit reports, with a view to helping institutions perform their own risk assessments on third parties.Trogni said: "We started with KYC, and we started to talk to banks, to asset managers, and it became increasingly obvious that there was a growing need for somebody to look at the whole process of knowing your third party and managing the risk of the third parties you are relying on."The service will be aimed at financial companies initially, and Barclays, HSBC, and Morgan Stanley will be onboarding their third parties onto the data hub. Markit plans to roll the service out to other industries in time. Dell, for example, is onboarding its own third parties onto the service.Sameer Kishore, vice president and global general manager of banking, financial services, and insurance at Dell Services, said: "As an organization we see tremendous benefits in this platform both as a consumer and a supplier of third-party risk data. We are actively encouraging our vendors to become part of the network platform as well."Trogni said: "If you could create one standardized platform that can measure 80% of the risk features around a product you are selling or a service you are delivering that could satisfy all industries, you would reduce the number of people required to send spreadsheets back and forth, and you can focus on the risk."The service has the potential, in time, to become a Yellow Pages for third-party vendors, according to Trogni.
