Following an initial roll-out in the US in July 2019, the feature is now live in India and rest of the world, and is a great way for freelancers and small businesses to indicate they are ‘Open for Business’. Open for Business allows small businesses and freelancers to showcase the services they provide, directly on their profiles. This helps their profiles become more discoverable in the LinkedIn search engine through the ‘service providers’ filter. Once the “open to” providing services feature is turned on, a box-like card appears on the top of one’s profile, which calls out the services they provide. The Open for Business feature also allows members looking for services to search and filter results on the platform. This helps them determine which service providers are available and best-suited to fulfil their professional needs. Members can also browse the full list of services offered and send a direct message to the service provider. Based on research conducted by LinkedIn, small businesses are found to rely heavily on word of mouth, in order to bring in new customers. ‘Open for Business’ aims to digitize this word of mouth concept by making it easy for members to find, message, and provide references to each other. Allen Blue, LinkedIn’s co-founder and VP of product management, said, “With 660 million members and 30 million companies on the platform across the world, LinkedIn is uniquely positioned to help freelancers and small businesses be more productive and successful, whether they are based in Dubai or Dundee.”

Three people are hired every minute on LinkedIn, says Satya Nadella

Professional social networking platform <keyword id="28120" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="linkedin" source="Orion">LinkedIn</keyword> has introduced its identity verification feature for Indian users. "Having an ID verification means that the individual's government-issued ID is verified by one of LinkedIn's verification partners," Ashutosh Gupta, Country Manager at <keyword id="278010" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="linkedin-india" source="Orion">LinkedIn India</keyword>, said in a blogpost on Wednesday. In <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>, HyperVerge, a third-party identity verification service which uses DigiLocker -- an online wallet for Indian government-issued IDs like the <keyword id="6356006" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="aadhaar-card" source="Orion">Aadhaar Card</keyword> -- handles ID verification. The ID verification is available for users with a valid Aadhaar number and an Indian phone number. "On LinkedIn, when you show that you're the real you, you'll have an even greater chance of finding the professional opportunities that matter to you and your community," Gupta said. He further mentioned that the platform does not have access to any sensitive data from the member's Aadhaar. "If you don't have an Aadhaar, you can still verify other information for use on LinkedIn using different methods. You can choose to verify through your work email, or workplace credentials," he added. In April, the company launched the ID verification in the US and plans to roll out this feature to other regions soon. It is niche and hence the additional cost for the same,” adds Mehta. LinkedIn makes it easy for a brand to segment its audience and reach one like-minded set of people at a time. It offers rich demographic data points such as job function, seniority, company name, geography, industry, interest-based targeting group membership, skills, etc. Telling us when are LinkedIn ads commonly used by a brand, Shradha Agarwal, ceo and co-founder of digital agency Grapes, says, “LinkedIn Ads campaigns are usually being used for job recruitment ads, service and product sales, lead generation, promoting content, increasing visibility, and reaching for a new company location. And if we have to compare getting relevant traffic to the website, Linkedin is at least 5X of Facebook and 2X of Twitter. However, conversions are way better.” For N Chandramouli, ceo of TRA Research, which is a brand intelligence and data insights company, LinkedIn has become ‘official WhatsApp’ of sorts. He gave us an example of how expensive LinkedIn’s lead generation can be, which is considered to be its most effective form of marketing on the networking site. “Per lead could be a person, a company or anything that I'm seeking. If you were to advertise, this could go up to about ₹1300 per lead, which is a very expensive lead generation point. But if you use the platform intelligently, not wildly spend like Facebook -- from over a few lakhs of rupees, you can get it down to ₹200 per lead. The amount of spends can go from as low as $1,000 or even lesser per month to maybe $10,000 or even higher per month. Starting Thursday, as part of the Phase 1 roll-out of LinkedIn in Hindi, members will be able to access their feed, profile, jobs, messaging, and create content in Hindi on desktop, and on their Android and iOS phones. As the next step, LinkedIn will work towards widening the range of job opportunities available for Hindi speaking professionals across industries, including more banking, and government jobs. The platform will also continue to add more Hindi publishers and creators in the coming weeks to boost member engagement and conversations in Hindi. Smartphone users will need to select Hindi as their preferred device language under phone settings to view the LinkedIn mobile application in Hindi. For members who are already using Hindi as their preferred language on their smartphones, the LinkedIn experience will automatically be available in Hindi. On desktop, members will need to click on the 'Me' icon at the top of their LinkedIn homepage and select 'Settings and Privacy'. Members then need to click on 'Account Preferences' on the left, select 'Site Preferences', click 'Change' next to 'Language', and select 'Hindi' from the drop down list. India is a core market for growth at LinkedIn and the second largest market in terms of members after the US, accounting for 82 million members as part of a global community of 800 million members. India's member base has grown by 20+ million in the past three years (15 per cent year-over-year growth) and it has witnessed a spike in engagement and conversations on the platform since the pandemic, tye company claims.

<ul><li><keyword id="28120" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Linkedin">LinkedIn</keyword> has launched Stories in India to help members share everyday, casual updates and experiences from their professional lives.</li><li>LinkedIn Influencers and Top Voices Vani Kola, Kiran Bedi, Rahul Subramanian, and Anny Diva share lightweight work moments in their first <keyword id="4764063" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="linkedin-stories">LinkedIn Stories</keyword>.</li></ul>Professional networking platform LinkedIn on Tuesday launched the 'Stories' feature in India which allows members to publish photos and videos up to 20 seconds long that will be visible on their profiles for 24 hours before disappearing. The "Stories" allow members to send messages to connections and followers, and mention/tag connections in a Story. They can also see who has viewed their Story, increasing engagement and giving insight on activity for the posts. Additionally, features such as ‘Question of the Day', asks members what they're working on or how they recharge on their day off, and their Story responses help members start new conversations, acting as ice-breakers, the company said in a statement. LinkedIn members can share their everyday professional moments such as work-from-home setups, daily routines, work motivations, events, team calls, industry news, and insights quickly and with ease as it does not stay on a member's permanent profile. "Along with the launch of Stories, we have also introduced a host of platform enhancements that offer an inclusive and enjoyable LinkedIn experience," Ashutosh Gupta, India Country Manager, LinkedIn, said in a statement. For India, the platform also launched six localised stickers that serve as quirky depictions of the work-life unique to the country -- Auto Rickshaw, Jugaad, Chai-Time, Cricket, Yoga, and India written in kitsch design that can double up as a way to highlight your location. The platform also introduced a new, streamlined search experience, which will introduce a blended search results page with defined recommendations organised by people, companies, schools, content, and online events.

LinkedIn released a <a href="https://news.linkedin.com/2021/june/an-update-from-linkedin">statement</a> on its website, clarifying that the alleged data breach didn’t happen and no user data was at risk. “Our initial investigation has found that this data was scraped from LinkedIn and other various websites and includes the same data reported earlier this year in our April 2021 scraping update,” LinkedIn said in the statement. The company added that the members trust LinkedIn with their data and any misuse of user’s data violates its policies. According to a report by <a href="https://restoreprivacy.com/linkedin-data-leak-700-million-users/">RestorePrivacy</a> earlier this week, a hacker put out private data of 700 million LinkedIn users for sale on a popular hacking forum. The hacker shared the sample data of 1 million users that contained sensitive information like email addresses, full names, phone numbers, physical addresses, geolocation records, LinkedIn username and profile URL, personal and professional experience/background, genders, and other social media handles. As per the publication, the data seems to be authentic and relates to real users. The hacker reportedly said that the data was acquired by exploiting the LinkedIn API. This privacy breach comes within three months of another data leak from LinkedIn in April. While LinkedIn claims that the scraped data includes the same data as reported in April, this alleged breach would put about 92% of LinkedIn’s 756 million users at risk. Cybercriminals could use the data to access other accounts or create detailed profiles of potential victims. However, LinkedIn in the statement assured its users, saying that when anyone tries to take member data and use it for purposes LinkedIn and our members haven’t agreed to, we work to stop them and hold them accountable. LinkedIn denies data breach that reportedly affected 700 million users

Hit by a massive data breach that put nearly 167 million users' passwords and personal information in the hands of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=hackers&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">hackers</a> four years back, the popular career-oriented platform <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=linkedin&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">LinkedIn</a> has finally came out with an explanation and steps it has taken to protect users. 
 In an email sent out to all its members, <keyword id="28120" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Linkedin">LinkedIn</keyword> admitted that the massive data breach in 2012 may result in millions of passwords being leaked to the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=internet&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">internet</a>. 
 
LinkedIn currently has 400 million users. 
 
"On May 17, 2016, we became aware that data stolen from LinkedIn in 2012 was being made available online. This was not a new security breach or hack. We took immediate steps to invalidate the passwords of all LinkedIn accounts that we believed might be at risk," LinkedIn said. 
 
"These were accounts created prior to the 2012 breach that had not reset their passwords since that breach," the email read. 
The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=data+breaches&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">data breach</a> involved member email addresses, hashed passwords, and LinkedIn member IDs (an internal identifier LinkedIn assigns to each member profile) from 2012. 
 
"We invalidated passwords of all LinkedIn accounts created prior to the 2012 breach that had not reset their passwords since that breach," the company informed its users. 
 
"In addition, we are using automated tools to attempt to identify and block any suspicious activity that might occur on LinkedIn accounts. We are also actively engaging with law enforcement authorities," the company added. 
 
According to the business-oriented social networking service, it has several dedicated teams working diligently to ensure that the information members entrust to LinkedIn remains secure. 
 
"While we do all we can, we always suggest that our members visit our Safety Center to learn about enabling two-step verification and implementing strong passwords in order to keep their accounts as safe as possible," it requested all the members. 
 
"We recommend that you regularly change your LinkedIn password and if you use the same or similar passwords on other online services, we recommend you set new passwords on those accounts as well," it added.
