More than 1 in 2 (52 per cent) gig <keyword id="6360043" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="workers" source="Orion">workers</keyword> in <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword> feel that their work environment makes it challenging to <keyword id="3736601" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="upskill" source="Orion">upskill</keyword> or find new job opportunities, a report showed on Tuesday. Almost 50 per cent of online platform workers find their jobs through traditional referral networks despite 80 per cent having internet access, according to the report by CIIE.CO, a startup platform built at <keyword id="19483" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="iim-ahmedabad" source="Orion">IIM Ahmedabad</keyword>. The report was prepared after a survey of 4,070 platform-based gig workers between the high earning knowledge workers and daily-wage agricultural workers. Of the 400 women surveyed, 60 per cent provided services related to being house helps and earned relatively low. Nearly 78 per cent held less than two different jobs since 2015, while 46.5 per cent of the individuals held their jobs longer than 24 months, the findings showed. "Over 32.4 per cent of respondents still function on cash. This is in spite of the vast majority of them being literate and having access to the internet," the report noted. The report suggested that for financial inclusion to truly occur at scale in India, there is a need for technology to bring down costs of servicing end-users to a fraction of what it is today, need for distribution models to be drastically changed to optimise for the last mile, and the unit economics to be more inclusive. "In many ways, gig workers are channels through which the old and new India interact. Enabling gig workers to own and use their employment, financial, health etc. data will improve their well-being and unlock the growth of both traditional and new economies," said <keyword id="309812" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="supriya-sharma" source="Orion">Supriya Sharma</keyword>, Partner-Insights, CIIE.CO. Being powered by declining internet and hardware costs, technology-based platforms are becoming a lifeline for employment at a time when traditional sectors dwindle in size and reach. "Of the 4,070 individuals, over 2,000 respondents were 30 years of age or younger. This stands testament to the trend of young India finding the gig economy and its platforms as preferable sources of work opportunities and income generation," said the report. 1 in 2 Indian gig workers finds it difficult to upskill, find new job

"After completing a thorough and independent scientific review of the evidence, the department determined that this vaccine is safe and effective when used in this younger age group," said <keyword id="140013" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Health-Canada">Health Canada</keyword>'s Chief Medical Advisor Supriya <keyword id="445" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sharma">Sharma</keyword> at a press conference on Wednesday. Canada became the first country in the world to have okayed the two-dose <keyword id="44612" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pfizer">Pfizer</keyword> vaccine shots to the younger age group, the <keyword id="106387" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Xinhua-news-agency">Xinhua news agency</keyword> reported. The Canadian government authorised the vaccine for use in individuals 16 years of age and older last December. Health Canada based its decision on data from Phase 3 clinical trial in participants aged 12 to 15 years old. The trial enrolled 2,260 adolescents 12 to 15 years of age in the United States. All participants in the trial will continue to be monitored for long-term protection and safety for an additional two years after their second dose. "After completing a thorough and independent scientific review of the evidence, the department determined that this vaccine is safe and effective when used in this younger age group," said Sharma. "While younger people are less likely to experience serious cases of Covid-19, having access to a safe and effective vaccine will help control the disease's spread to their family and friends, some of whom may be at higher risk of complications," Sharma said. "The most commonly reported side effects were temporary and mild, like a sore arm, chills or fever." Usually, the vaccine submission review process can take much longer, but because of an emergency order, Health Canada has been able to expedite the authorisation process. Health Canada has published a series of documents detailing its decision and a summary of the evidence reviewed. Pfizer-BioNTech is required to continue providing Health Canada with ongoing safety and efficacy information as the product is being used in real world settings. With nearly 11 million doses sent to Canada to date, Pfizer has committed to sending more than 2 million doses each week, until end of June. Asked what this might mean for schools to be able to reopen, Sharma said that will depend on how and when provinces and territories in Canada decide to administer these shots to younger people. Canada approves Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for 12-15 year olds

The much awaited trailer of Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming movie <keyword id="6385067" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="fan">Fan</keyword> was released yesterday, and by the looks of it, we can safely say that after a string of commercially successful but critically panned movies in the past few years, the King Khan has finally stepped on the path of redemption as an actor and not just a successful star. 
 
The trailer takes us to Gaurav Chanana, the self-proclaimed biggest fan of superstar Aryan Khanna, who also happens to be his look-alike. After winning a local competition as the biggest fan of Khanna, he goes to Mumbai to meet Khanna, only to create a ruckus in the life of his idol after he fails to appreciate his love and admiration for him. 
 
The trailer then shows the limits of his obsession, which turns dangerous for both his and his idol’s life, after a string of stunts in Mumbai, Croatia, and London, in which we see Aryan running after Gaurav, proving his point that now a star would run behind his fan. 
 
The fact that Khan spent a significant time sitting on a chair getting his make-up done by Academy Award winner make-up artist Greg Cannom to look like a look-alike of himself is not the only interesting thing about the trailer. It’s actually the feeling of immense happiness when you see a seemingly good actor acting well, not only in one role but in both the roles assigned to him. 
 
Neither do we see Khan hopelessly wooing a girl, nor do we see him using his persona and charm to make the movie work; in fact, Khan, for a change, has managed to act so well that it reminds us of his good old days, when he used to rule the space of thriller movies, like Baazigar, Darr and Anjaam. 
 The film is directed by <keyword id="112723" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Maneesh-Sharma">Maneesh Sharma</keyword>, who has helmed successful romantic movies like Band Baaja Baaraat, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl and Shuddh Desi Romance, and looks like this thriller is well-made too.
