What Happened to Green India? Ranked Lowest as per Environmental Performance Index, India Disputes Methodology

The EPI ranks countries based on how close they might be to achieving specific 2050 international climate targets, along with their performance in environmental health and ecosystem vitality. In a statement early this month, India rejected its low ranking, claiming that many of the indicators used to assess the EPI are based on "unfounded assumptions," with some of them "extrapolated and based on surmises and unscientific methods."
