In a tragic event, a woman in Delhi NCR reportedly died after a smartphone exploded near her head while sleeping. A YouTuber took to Twitter to claim that his aunt died after her phone exploded while she was sleeping with the device beside her head.

MD Talk YT (Manjeet) took to Twitter to share graphic images of her aunt lying with a pool of blood near her head and also revealed a burnt-up Redmi 6A smartphone.

“Yesterday in Night my Aunty found dead, she was using Redmi 6A, she was sleeping & she kept the phone near her face on pillow side & after sometime her phone blast. It's a bad time for us. It's a responsibility of a brand to support,” Manjeet said in a tweet.

Xiaomi India support has replied to Manjeet and has claimed that the company is reaching out to the affected family to investigate the incident.

Business Insider India reached out to Xiaomi for an update on the investigation. We will update the story once we receive a reply from the company.

The images shared by Manjeet reveal an exploded Redmi 6A smartphone. In a subsequent tweet, Manjeet asked the government and smartphone makers to set up safety standards for smartphones so that people do not lose their lives.

“And aggrieved family has asked government / mobile manufacturers to implement robust safety standards and conduct thorough testing before releasing a phone so that people do not suffer and lose their lives,” Manjeet added.

At the moment, there is no information about the cause of the explosion, and Xiaomi is yet to reveal any information about the incident. We should know more about the incident once the company reveals more details.
