The year 2020 saw smartphone companies launching some excellent smartphones in the flagship segment, offering powerful performance, cameras, and gaming experience. The momentum is all set to continue in 2021 as smartphone makers gear up to launch the successors of their flagship devices.

In this list, we look at some of the top upcoming smartphones to look out for in 2021.

Samsung Galaxy S21

Samsung is expected to launch three devices in the Galaxy S21 series – the base Galaxy S21, the Galaxy S21+ and the premium Galaxy S21 Ultra. While the US variant will be powered by the Snapdragon 888 chipset, the devices will be powered by the Exynos 2100 chipset in India and other countries. While the S21 and S21+ will feature a triple camera setup at the back, the S21 Ultra will come with a quad camera setup.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra is also expected to feature S Pen support. The Galaxy S21 series is expected to be announced in January at the Galaxy Unpacked event.

OnePlus 9

After the success of the OnePlus 8 series and the OnePlus 8T, OnePlus is gearing up to launch the OnePlus 9 series. As per reports, the company is expected to announce the OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro and the affordable OnePlus 9 Lite in March. The OnePlus 9 Lite is a new addition from OnePlus and is expected to be smaller in size and will be placed below the OnePlus 9.

The OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro will be powered by the Snapdragon 888 chipset and the OnePlus 9 Lite is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 865 chipset and will take on the likes of the Pixel 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE.

Apple iPhone 13

Apple is expected to get back to its September launch schedule in 2021after it was forced to launch the iPhone 12 series in October due to Covid-19. So, the iPhone 13 series is expected to be launched in the second half of September 2021. The company is expected to announce four variants – the iPhone 13 mini, the iPhone 13, the iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

As per reports, the company is expected to adopt a portless design and will drop the lightning port, offering only wireless charging and data transfer. The iPhone 13 series is expected to be powered by the unannounced A15 Bionic chipset.

Xiaomi Mi 11

The Xiaomi Mi 11 is set to be announced in China later today and will go on sale in January. The device is expected to be announced in India later next year and will likely be the first Snapdragon 888 powered device in the country. The device is expected to feature a triple camera setup consisting of a 108MP primary camera and the Mi 11 Pro is expected to feature a whopping 192MP primary camera.

The two devices are expected to offer the company’s 120W fast charging. However, the company has confirmed that the Mi 11 series will not come with the charging brick in the box.

Google Pixel 5a

While not much is known about the successor of the Google Pixel 4a, the Pixel 5a is expected to be announced in May, 2021. The device was confirmed by 9to5Google who reviewed an internal Android document. In addition to the Pixel 5a, the document also confirmed three other Pixel devices, including a foldable Pixel phone.
