Reinforced privacy protection
Xiaomi has enhanced privacy protection in MIUI 12 with a hardened permissions system. This system limits the access to camera, microphone, contacts, call history, calendar and storage – these permissions will only be accessible while you’re using the app.
Essentially, this approach tries to prevent apps from surreptitiously accessing information in the background without explicit permission from the user.
Apart from this, MIUI 12 also allows users to remove location information from photos before sharing them with other users or apps.

System-wide design and user interface changes
Another major change in MIUI 12 is the design. Xiaomi has updated the design language to look more modern and simpler. There are new system animations and a new rendering engine that brings a range of other real-time interface updates.
Apart from these two major updates, MIUI 12 also includes performance improvements and other tweaks.
