Asus has announced the ROG Phone 8 and Phone 8 Pro, the company’s latest gaming smartphones at the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show 2024 (CES 2024).

The ROG phones are among the only gaming smartphones launched in India and are expected to be unveiled soon in the country. Like most new premium smartphones launching these days, the ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro are equipped with AI-enabled features.

The ROG Phone 8 is priced at $1,099.99 (approx. ₹91,400) for the 16GB RAM + 256GB internal storage option and the ROG Phone 8 Pro is priced at $1,199.99 (approx. ₹99,700) for the 16GB RAM + 512GB storage option. There is also a ROG Phone 8 Pro Edition that is priced at $1,499.99 (approx. ₹1,24,700) for the 24GB RAM + 1TB storage option.

AI to offer an improved gaming experience

Asus has introduced AI-powered features with the ROG Phone 8 series to offer an improved gaming experience to users. This includes an AI grabber that makes it easier to search for gaming walkthroughs online by identifying and copying in-game texts and instructions.

The company is also using AI to offer better search results in the smartphone’s launcher, gallery and settings.

The ROG Phone 8 and Phone 8 Pro are powered by Android 14 out of the box with the company’s ROG UI on top. It comes with several features aimed at offering a better gaming experience, including AniMe vision, gaming mode and more.

The smartphones feature a 6.78-inch Full HD+ LTPO E6 AMOLED display with up to 165Hz refresh rate, Corning Glass Victus 2 protection and up to 2500 nits peak brightness.

The ROG Phone 8 and Phone 8 Pro are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. While the ROG Phone 8 is equipped with 12GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage, the ROG Phone 8 Pro is equipped with 16GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage.

The smartphones feature the company’s Rapid-Cooling Conductor design, which Asus says conducts heat directly from the processor to the back cover.

Coming to the camera department, the ROG Phone 8 and Phone 8 Pro have received a good boost to their camera capabilities. The devices feature a triple camera setup at the back consisting of a 50MP primary camera, a 13MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 32MP telephoto sensor. On the front, the device features a 32MP selfie camera.

The ROG Phone 8 and Phone 8 Pro are powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 65W fast charging support and 15W wireless charging support.

Being a gaming smartphone, the device features a 3.5mm audio jack, dual speakers and tri-microphones with Asus Noise Reduction technology for an improved gaming experience.
