It has been a busy week for tech enthusiasts, as Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi 14, the company’s latest flagship smartphone in India and the successor of the Xiaomi 13 Pro smartphone, on Thursday. The company also launched the Xiaomi 14 Ultra alongside the Xiaomi 14.

The Xiaomi 14 takes on the likes of the OnePlus 12 and the iQOO 12 in the affordable flagship segment, offering similar hardware, including the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.

Price

The Xiaomi 14 is available in a single variant with 12GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage, priced at ₹69,999.

The OnePlus 12 is priced at ₹64,999 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant and ₹69,999 for the 16GB RAM + 512GB storage variant.

The iQOO 12 is the most affordable among the three smartphones, priced at ₹52,999 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB internal storage variant and ₹57,999 for the 16GB RAM + 512GB internal storage variant.

Specifications


Display

The Xiaomi 14 is a compact smartphone that features the smallest display among the three at 6.36 inches. It comes with a 12-bit OLED LTPO display with 1.5K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and 3,000 nits peak brightness.

The OnePlus 12 features the biggest display among the three smartphones. It comes with a 6.82-inch Quad HD+ curved AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 4,500 nits peak brightness and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.

The iQOO 12 is ahead when it comes to refresh rate as it offers a 144Hz refresh rate. It features a 6.78-inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and 3,000 nits peak brightness.

Therefore, if you are looking for a gaming smartphone, the iQOO 12 which offers a higher refresh rate and a fairly wide screen is worth considering.

Performance

All three smartphones are powered by the same chipset, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, currently the latest flagship chipset from the company.

The OnePlus 12 also features a triple camera setup at the back consisting of a 50MP primary camera with Sony LYT-808 sensor, OIS, a 48MP ultra-wide-angle camera with the Sony IMX581 sensor and a 64MP periscope telephoto camera with Omnivision OV64B sensor with 3x optical zoom, 6x in-sensor zoom and up to 120x digital zoom.

Finally, the iQOO 12 is equipped with a triple camera setup at the back consisting of a 50MP primary camera with PDAF and OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 64MP periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom. On the front, the device sports a 16MP selfie camera.

In our testing, we found the Xiaomi 14 to offer a better camera performance among the three devices, with its Leica cameras giving it an attractive edge. If you are looking for a camera-centric smartphone, the Xiaomi 14 might be a good option for you.

Verdict

The Xiaomi 14, OnePlus 12 and the iQOO 12 are feature-packed smartphones that offer good value for money. It is a close fight between the three smartphones, with each of them offering similar specifications.
